TODAY: Today we maxed on Bench, Pullups, and Hang Clean. I started off cold with pullups with palms out shoulder width grip and got 13, fresh off is when i can do the most pullups, and I do them before anything every day. Next I went to bench after watching a few funny bull***** maxes and sat down and did 135x5, 185x1 and then 205x1. 205 was easy so I put on 225 and waited a few minutes to try it out. The big line coach got behind me and slapped my face a few times wich got me pissed and I wasn't used to that and I went down and up easy with perfect balance on each side. Next we put on 235, I tried and failed wich drained some energy, so we put on 230 and I just barely got it. I was mad I didn't get 235 but I'll smash it next time. Next i went to hang clean and did 135x3 and 155x1 and then stopped at 165x1, IDK why i'm not very good at it but i'll work on it. That was today, I'll post this differently after max week but I figure i'd turn on [story mode] for max week.
Eats Breakfast: 1 cup milk and 50g Protein Shake. (sad)
Lunch: 3 cup milk, 1/2 cup pears, 1 plastic pizza burger with bun.
Supper: 1 cup milk, 1.5 hamburgers with cheese and bun, 1 cup brocolli with oil dressing. I can't shove any more down I wish I had a bigger stomach!!

Good luck dude. Wish I had been serious about lifting when I was playing HS football. Looks like you've got a good foundation so far.

Not a bad day of maxing today, even though my squat wasn't what I wanted. I'm pretty wiped from plowing after lifting also so i'll just post a quick overview of the max day.
Started off with squat, did 135x5, 225x3, 295x1 and then waited a bit and did 315 easy I thought. I let my partners go and we put on 335. I wasn't too self confident about this high of weight, wich is probably why i failed in the first place :P I tried and failed, only got it about 1/3 up after paralell. We knocked a few lbs off for me and I ended up with 320. My parters went to 385, congrats to them!
Next was Push Press. I did 135x3, 165x1, 185x1. I then tried for 195x1 and missed but i waited a few minutes and concentrated more and nailed it. I stopped there because the spotter had his hands touching so I figured if I added more it wouldn't be legit.
Went to dips (IDK why we max on this?) but i got 32 bench press dips and then 17 'real' dips. I shake like a mother on those!! Pretty dissapointed in myself today, maxed Powerclean, Incline and pushups. I did clean 135x5, 185x1, threw up 205 easy and then tried for 225. Got it about 3/4 of the way and put on 215. I tried it and failed, I was very mad at myself because I got 215 3 months ago and should have increased atleast 5 lbs. But I waited 5 more mins and tried it, thought about it more and nailed it but 225 still didn't come. I guess it's too intimidating for this time.
I went to incline and did 135x5 and 155x1, then tried 195x1 and failed. Came back 3 mins later and did 185x1. I'm not too worried about incline, I only do flat bench usually anways. I went off to pushups next and did 40 total, no rest and fully down. Don't ask me why we max on those!!
Big lunch today and decent supper, i'm working on my breakfast! I'm eating till I can't eat anymore but still staying at 175, that 8 lbs just isnt coming back!! Oh well, i'll give it another 2 weeks to get back to 180-185 and if it doesn't happen i'll go into depression.
Got a WEIGHTROOM 3 ON 3 BASKETBALL TOURNY TOMORROW, IT'LL BE GREAT! All the meatheads playin on a 3v3 bball tourny! Hopefully Friday weights will be open so I can figure out a deadlift max.

Had 3v3 WEIGHTROOM ONLY bball tourny today, was pretty fun. Our group got 3rd out of 5, we consisted of 2 linemen and 1 fullback, so take that, group of halfbacks and receivers!! Didn't lift on account of tourny, wish it was open.

Didn't lift today either, there's a 50/50 chance of it opening on Fridays and it wasn't our lucky day today I suppose. Went into town and messed around with friends and ate like crap, had a #4 at mcdonalds double 1/4 lber with cheese and large fry/coke and sundae. mmm mm good.

oh, it must be genetics then. I JUST picked up olypic bar deadlift about a month ago and have only done it serious a few times, but plan on doing it alot more :) thanks for your comments guys, cant wait to get back to liftin monday.

Well woke up at 2:30 pm today and ate at about 5. Had some eggs,tots,bacon,cheese and some grapes. Along with a glass of milk, fish oil pill, whey and creatine. Ima try n stuff somethin down later tonight for a snack. weights was a killer today. our workout for today was:
4x8 squats 205x8 225x8 225x8 225x8 THAT KILLED hard to breathe afterwords!!

3x10 45lb dumbell flat press
3x10 40lb lawnmowers
1 set of 7/21's (curl halfway up 7 times, other halfway up 7 times, and full ROM 7 times)
very very weak today I know, but instead of 5 poeple in there it's about 50 today, in a 100ftx100ft weightroom with 3 squat racks and 3 benches and 2 clean/DL stations and 2 racks of dumbells. the JV bball team came in to max since their done, and the girls track came in after while and seriosuly stood there and took up half the god damn space. our coach now only gives us about 45 minutes to lift wich is NOT ENOUGH in my opinion, and every day now we do plyos, today they were:
dynamic stretching high knees, hip stretches, etc.
standing broad jump 30sec x2
standing (vertical?) jump 30sec x2
line drills (moving feet over a bball line/tile very quick and back) 30sec x3
linebacker drill (run 5 yds left, 10 yds right, 10 yds right again) 4 times or however many in 4 minutes (we had groups)
about freaking puked afterwards, i havent ran since football got over like 4 months ago!!

body is feeling completely wrecked and it feels nice, havnt felt like that in a while. weighed in at 178.5, finally gaining back up to 180 :)

Just sat around all day today, woke up at 1:30 had no school for state wrestling. Hailed and crap all day mom probably wouldnt have let me go to weights if it was open anyways. Got 2 more buckets of GNC whey im starting 3 shakes a day now wich is ~180g of protein just with milk+whey shake.
well powers been out since saturday morning and ive had no internet and stuff so i headed over to friends they got power and today the weightroom was open (the head coach DIDNT open it suprise suprise) but i did a nice feeling workout.

Nice back workout today and killer squats. I tried some new squat forms today, I tried about shoulder width feet, slightly pointed out but barely. Went down almost ATF on every one. Felt very good I might have to start squatting this way instead of paralell to take pressure off knees and just because it feels nice.

"Plyos" is the slang term for Plyometrics. Plyometrics for us are drills that increase our explosiveness, speed, agility, and footwork. We do a variety of different drills like the "linebacker" drill, the loop, etc. I've explained them all in my different posts atleast once if you want to learn more about them.

Not open today, but played a good 60 minutes of pickleball. (www.pickleball.com). It's just like tennis but with a littler court and with whiffle balls. Huge thing at my school. PICKLEBALL IS IN SESSION. That's 60 minutes of *serious* pickleball, worked up a nice sweat.

Just finished reading on all of these Plyo's. I think I get the jist of it. I think its something I would need to see done in person to try. Btw Pickle ball looks cool as hell!
Yeah their pretty easy to learn, its just go from cone A to cone B or line 1 to line 2, etc. maybe www.biggerfasterstronger.com has something on plyos, I think their pretty big on that stuff. Yeah pickleball is very fun and you can get way involved in a game of it.

Thanks unholy :) I'm really tryin to stuff in as much as possible, my fitday link is at the first post, do you think 3500 cals a day and about 250 proteins is good enough to gain atleast 1 lb a week? I have very high metabolism too but im not in any sports just the little bit of plyos is the most cardio we do.
Sweet day today, got new PR of 235 POWER CLEAN!!! I'm psyched!

We were all increasing the weight because we thought it was too easy but turns out that's how it's spose to be heheh.

"power jumps" are the new name for what i called vertical jumps. start in squat position and explode up with ur knees touching chest or close as u can. Did 3 sets, 1 set of 10 (hard!), 1 set of 5 (even harder!!) and 1 set of legs only (not using hands to explode with, was great work) 5 times.

hehe thanks unholy. well i think today they honestly were, we did 1 yard sprints, 2.5 yard sprints, and 3 yard sprints... with tennis shoes, on the wet grass (he changed the plans on us!!). I had more dew on my body than sweat by the end!!
Bought a car today!! 1968 ford mustang coupe with some custom adds on it for 1400 bucks (practically stole it for that price)!! ive been looking for a few good years now for a car like this, and im freaking psyched to rebuild it these next few years!! you can see pics at www.myspace.come/jed2009 under the pics section if you want. Bench has gone up atleast 15 lb since 6 weeks ago.
Clean has gone up 20 lb since 6 weeks ago.
Squat is around the same, maybe +5 lb but haven't maxed it since.
Power Press is feeling good and easy using a 225 for max. Scared to max it even on max day though, that's a lot of weight over your head.
Deadlift has gone up about 40 lbs, but have only done it 3 times of the 6 or so weeks. Feels great when I do it though.
Weight up to 189, ate a lot of mcdonalds tonight though, might have broke 190!!

Did a way nasty bench for team work out. had 135 and held it for about 3 sec, down slow, hold for about 3 sec, then try to explode up as hard as possible. Did till you moved it the opposite way you were pushing :P (till it fell down even as u were pushing up) Did first set I think i got about 16 and second set about 3 mins later about 10 or so. Freaking killer.

tried some hack squats did 135x3 easy but need to get form down, i'd bring it up and itd run in to my hammies lol.
Worked on some bench form with 115. Tried the PL form with pinky to ring grip, wide grip, and medium grip. Felt weird but was fun too. MIght have to pick up this form if the coaches will let me. Currently I just use normal form (i think) with feet right on bottom of knees, not that big of back arch but enough. Any suggestions/comments? Am I doing it right or is PL form even better?
and finished with jump rope 2 minutes, pushups 45 sec (got 40), situps 30 sec (got like 25), pushups 30 sec (got about 20), situps 30 sec (got about 18)

Well, I did them pretty intensley (atleast once a week, heavy 3x3 or lighter 3x8 or so) about a year ago. Then I stopped and I havent done them since. IDK why I think I was hurting myself using too much weight and thought it was a problem. Im goin to start doing them again.

yah im just starting them and trying to learn them too. I put the bar now somewhat on my upper chest along with my shoulders which hepls. I know I could do more weight, im only doin like 115 but trying to get it down. It seems like a great excercise though. Good luck.
Thats cool I was doing the Clean grip but im thinking with heavy weight it might rip apart my wrists cause I cant really get my elbows up too far. Ill experiment next week and report how it goes :)

For team workout we did some MEAN shrugs, i had 55lb DB's and we went for what seemd atleast 3 minutes, slowly up and down without putting down DB's... mine finally slipped out on last 2 reps I picked back up and kept going. My forearms/hands felt it more than shoulders.
Then did some pushups with the DB's on ground, maybe did 30 first set, then 15 good ones second set. Felt totally wiped at end of workout.
Good job man thoughout, went for it toward the end with nonstop reps.

Alright here it is, maxing again this week. Felt great today did ATF squat (or atleast as far down as I can go) and incline, ending with some pullups!!!
ATF SQUAT : 135x5, 185x3, 225x1, 275x1, 300x1, 315x1 solid, had a little bit left, tried and failed 335 way too much, ended with a solid 320x1 also I didnt use a pad, just the bar.
INCLINE BENCH : 135x3, 175x1, 185x1, 195x1, solid 215x1
PULLUPS : Decently wide grip, palms out, 16 solid... struggled a bit with the last one but pretty sure i got it.
Was really happy with squat, doing it ATF now I was hoping to get ~300 but I got suprised!! Incline I dont usually do at all, last time I maxed 185 so the DB shoulder presses and mili's and push press must have helped it a lot, 215 was way over what I was hoping for. Pullups I was happy with, I got 13 last time so +3 isn't all that bad.
Probably do bench and something else tomorrow, gotta save energy for clean and Deadlfit wed. and thurs.!!!
also weighed a pathetic 182.5, but my maxes made me happier!

Great day today! Got 15 pounds more than I wanted on bench, and did a decent push press and got a few more dips than expected.
BENCH PRESS : 135x5, 135x3, 185x2, 205x1, 225x1, 235x1 easy, 250x1 easy, hard but solid 260x1!!! Felt insane!
PUSH PRESS : 145x2, 155x2, 175x1, 185x1, 200x1 solid and kind of easy, I felt I could have done atleast 205+ but I didn't feel comfortable with my spotters so I stopped there. Besides, you dont want to go too heavy on PP.
DIPS : Did full dips on dip bar, 19 full dips. I was hoping for 16 so I was happy with 19.
Great day overall today, my bench made me very happy. Also weighed 187 lb.

Went outside where he has a bunch of PL / strongman stuff and messed around with it. Did some sled running, a tire flip or two, C&J, keg toss/press, and some tbar rows... feels way weird outside. Didnt do much just learned about those lifts and probably going to come back next time and do some strongman stuff!

Weighed myself at Reinbeck yesterday... 179. I am getting ripped, so it seems like i'm only losing fat... but i'm getting much weaker. Really weird situation here.
Guess I'll add too, that my elbow pain has started to come back bad. Doc said no more anti infam's unless I get surgery or wait for football... so it's gonna be a long wait. The pain is terrible when it gets in the right place, and sometimes makes me stop the whole lift completely. I'm loading up on 2x Flax Oil Pills, 2x Fish Oil Pills, and 4x Glucoseamine/Condroitin for each day. Hopefuly this works, the glucose works for my dad, who has to go through **** 20x worse than this, so it should work for me.

Ah you think stump? The last 215x3 was max effort and I just got the last rep. I'll try to take it easy on the elbow, it's just hard to not be able to do any tricep isolation work / tricep targeting work (bench still kinda works tho)

I got one video (235 bench) working 100%... the others are 'processing'... and have been for about 3 hours now heh. The 360x1 for me says it's Live! but when I click it it just says what every other one does... weird. Hope they work by 2moro!

Can I get some critisism? I know theirs countless things to be worked on, what do you see?
I know chest, for one. Any form issues on the vids? They all work now BTW.
Didn't get the chance to check the vids out, but whereas critique goes - I have none. Just keep doing what you're doing, and keep that hard look. Strong point are your legs or quads in particular - go for it!!
Everybody could use more chest work, if you can get a partner for benching - that would be your best bet.

Weak workout today... it was Monday, 6 AM, and got 4 hrs of sleep...
Squat 135x5, 225x5, 230x5, 235x5, 240x5 all sets were too hard...
Pullups 3x10... atleast I'm maintaining my pullup amount.
Lost all focus and drive to get better and just sat and talked to a friend I haven't seen in a while.. might just stop lifting in the morning here, not give two *****s about what the coach says, and start lifting with my bud in his gym. It's a much better environment.

Just so u guys know, too, those floor presses my elbows werent totally on the ground, they ended up maybe like 3 inches off the ground because we had the safety bars as low as they could go!! Thank god too, I had to dump 225 for a 4th rep on the last set :)

Do u guys think it's hurting to not go 100% off the ground? Or will 3 inches above suffice enough? If they were 100% on the ground, with heavy weight it would be quite dangerous but about 3 inches (where the safety bars are) it's very safe.
Hmm. Quite a day today, but I only did one exercise. Beat the heck out of me though.

Well, I've done some thinkin' and I've decided I'm gonna stop doing upper body work that hurts my elbow until mid-July (~1 month) and see if it feels better. It's gotten completely out of hand, I couldn't even pick up a plate of pancakes yesterday :(
I'll lay off till July, and if it hasn't helped I'll keep going through football wearing a brace/wrap, then most likely get surgery if we can afford it. There's no other way to get this taken care of if a brace/support/wrap, pills, and time off doesn't heal it.

Thanks man. Well, I'll still be able to squat/DL wich are the most important lifts anyways. My bench will skyrocket in the opposite direction, and my clean will most likely go down, too. But luckily bench is my best lift and I may be able to get it back up faster than the rest of them if I would have taken a brake on anything else.
Proud of you for being ahead of things and taking the layoff in this way...you should be all clear by then man.

Stump, at 5'11 180 I will play offensive guard/tackle and defensive end :) I'm our our strongest lineman in bench clean and DL, and like 2nd in squat. The first strongest in squat is my exact height and weight too, we're both Juniors :) In Iowa 1A football, 190+ and athletic is very rare!! I'm hoping to get back up to atleast 188 or so before football starts, I'm like 182 now.
Also, does anyone have tips on tire flipping on about how to not destroy your wrist muscles? Its like the muscles right around where the veins are where people slit their wrists, IDK if their muscles or what but they are aching like a mother!! Is it just because I've never tire flipped before and if I keep doing it they'll get more 'conditioned'? Thanks :D

Big relief today, wrapped up my elbow with some knee wraps and did a whole bench workout without feeling elbow pain AT ALL!
Bench w/ 40lb Chains : 135+40 x4, 155+40x4, 177+40x4
Bodyweight Rows (lay on ground and grab bar above you and row): 3x10
Bench w/ Elbow Wrap : 135x6, 155x5, 205x1, 225x1, 245x1, 255x1... 255x1 was pretty hard but I got it up decent enough, was a huge relief :) I'm getting my bench strength back already!!
Felt no pain in elbow today doing rows, or heavy bench!!
Was planning on doing tire flips and presses today, but started to downpour. Might to it tomorrow!!

Basically. I'm knowledgable to pretty much freakin coach the team, lol, at least in a few positions. I used to be really fast, at least top 5 on the team, but I haven't ran in a couple years so I'm sure I'm not that fast anymore. The only thing is, I can't think on my feet. And if you can't do that, you can't play :(.
Ah, is your school big? Heck man, back in 7th grade when I thought football was the game with orange bouncing balls, I didn't know squat! I asked coach where halfbacks went, and he pointed me to the linemen and I didnt know the difference!! Now, 4 years later, I have become a decent football player by just playing and learning by myself, with some help from coaches/teammates. I say, if you love it, then play it and you will for sure get better man!
Oh yeah, picked up a new elbow support tonight. It's a Mueller 'Neoprene Blend' Elbow Sleeve... It slips on nice and fits well, and adds support to my elbow. Will be great to use for football!! Only $11.
Numbers are looking pretty good on the bench work.

dblock, you just lay on the ground and take hold of a bar like 2.5 feet above you, grab it, and row yourself up as high as you can go. When your the highest your probably about at like a 40 degree angle or so... cant find a vid, they may be called something else.
Was gona go to Gages for some strongman today but it's been raining for two days straight here... flipping tires and dragging sleds in rain doens't seem like fun to me!

great flipping man and nice pictures. only thing I can say is that when lifting the tire at the beginning you wanna keep that back straighter. besides that, nice. and WTF does all of Iowa look like that?
TY dblock. It's kinda hard to keep back straight because sometimes you gotta dig ur arms under to get hold and u have to bend ur back to get low enough, but I'll concentrate harder next time.

Hehe yeah they do. You don't have a yard? All you need is enough room to flip the tire once comfortably then run around the other side and flip it again :)
Went up to RB today for plyos and liftin.. plyos were pretty intense just did a bunch of stuff like bear crawl and sprint-touch a ton of cones...
Full Clean : 135x3, 155x2, 175x3, 185x3 into Power Clean :190x3, 205x1, 225x1
Pullups : 1x10
Calf Raises : 1x100 (wowza, burn burn burn!)
I know it was pretty wussy workout, but plyos wiped me out... that's why I hate them BEFORE weights wich makes no sense why the coaches make them like that but w/e I guess, I never lift with the team anymore anyways lol. 179 w/ shoes and clothes today... screw it... I'm just aiming to try to get stronger now, gaining weight is near impossible for me in the summer and I haven't the drive to do it anyways...

ahh don't be a pansy!!!!!! lol j/k. I'm somewhat doing the same thing now because it's a pain to bulk even though its much easier for me to focus on it during the summer IMO. good workout man. why not just do the plyos after lifting
Because it's a "team" thing that always happens 30 mins before weights tuesday and thurs, and everyone will get pissed if you do it yourself...
Easy to bulk in the summer? Dang I wish that's how it was with me... it's been so hot lately, I've easily sweated this month as much as I have in the past 6 months... it's really pathetic. I sweat like a mad man, I sweat in bed with no blankets and a fan on full blast, sitting in the AC room with a fan on me... IDK I just never stop!

Because it's a "team" thing that always happens 30 mins before weights tuesday and thurs, and everyone will get pissed if you do it yourself...
Easy to bulk in the summer? Dang I wish that's how it was with me... it's been so hot lately, I've easily sweated this month as much as I have in the past 6 months... it's really pathetic. I sweat like a mad man, I sweat in bed with no blankets and a fan on full blast, sitting in the AC room with a fan on me... IDK I just never stop!

Thinkin' about deads or squats today (gotta do atleast one!) but I have to work till 8 o'clock :P If I can't get them in today, I'll do 'em tomorrow/Sunday.
Didn't lift yesterday but actually swam alot (for me). Good cardio indeed. (I'm a lifeguard BTW I get in free) :D I can't swim worth crap, and I'm in terrible shape but no way to get better than to practice :) Did like 3 down and backs with like a 20 yard span or w/e, did some dives, repeated twice more. WOWZA I'm out of shape! :D

I'm getting my pool life guard qualification soon, how come youre in crappy swimming shape if your a lifeguard? Think of the children.....
Heheheh IT SUCKS WAY BAD mcvein!! Well, if you don't have asthma + are in horrid shape then it's not that terrible I would assume! Well, I never had swimming lessons I just kinda learned on my own, that would explain why I'm not the best swimmer around :P

Is your qualification like scribbled in crayon or something, haha, i have to do a test for mine... not looking forward to it.
OMG it was hell dude. We had to swim ATLEAST 300 meters every night for 3 weeks, and constantly go over every type of rescue there was. Had to watch pointless movies, take stupid tests and it sucked for me 'cause I was with a bunch of not-so-good-looking females I had to rescue every day!

I did lifesaving every week for a few years a while back, but then i got out of swimming shape, Im a swimming teacher but thats all theory, no swimming involved really. I probably couldnt even sprint 1 length without dying now.
Test isnt for a few weeks though, if i even go.
Hmm you should be ready then as long as you can swim a zillion laps. Luckily for me I had asthma and the teacher felt way bad for me and I sweet talked her a bit to make her feel sorry :D

Good workout today but short and low volume.
Squat : 135x5, 225x4, 250x3, 260x3, 270x3, 295x1
Leg Extensions... just did with heavy weight till failure then took some off and did till failure then took off and did till failure one last time.
Would of done more with hammies but hamstrings were already crampin' up just doing squats so I layed off.
