I know the 'creatine on a cut' subject has been covered ad infinitum, with the result being that it's a good thing, but I'm having a hard time losing 240-320 calories to dextrose when I'm already limiting myself to 1700-2000 calories. That's about 18% of my daily calories in one nasty gulp when I'm already chewing my arms off from hunger, and struggling to hit my protein targets.

I've been reading about Creatine Ethyl Ester, and some have said that it's more easily absorbed by your body, and makes the insulin surge from the dextrose irrelevant. What's the consensus on this here? It is more expensive, but the costs don't seem excessively prohibitive, especially if it helps me preserve muscle on a cut while allowing me to eat like a normal person. I'd rather get my post-workout carbs from something I can chew.

For the record, I used creatine monohydrate on my last bulk with good results.

I use CEE and it seems to be working for me. I stopped for about 3 weeks or so and felt that my strength was comprimised. Just my experience though.

Did you have to take it with dextrose for optimum effect? It's really the 'empty' calories of the delivery system that are keeping me from taking creatine monohydrate while cutting.

Dude CEE tastes gawdaweful. You're going to need that much dextrose just to get it down. Just mix your CM with your protein/dex drink post workout, and don't worry about it.

Many also report less water bloat on CEE, so its likely to make your cut 'seem' more productive.
