It is food. It is equivelent to eating lots of food in one sitting. If it happens to put your daily intake above maintenance, then you will gain. If it doesn't, then you won't gain.

If you don't know if the calories provided in it will make you gain weight, then you have no structured diet plan and I suggest you start creating one. Sign up for a free account at www.fitday.com and start tracking everything you eat. Excess calories above your maintenance will help you gain weight. If you take this Mass-Tech and aren't gaining, it's because you're not eating enough food to begin with. And no, that's a terrible supplement because it's loaded with crap. Head on over to the Recipes section for ideas to make your OWN weight gain shakes. Not only can you make your own and have more calories, but you'll know exactly what's in it and it'll be healthier.

i have a very structed diet, and i tried fitday but dont really need to use it.
let me break down the question a little more.
what in it makes it crap exactly?
what are (if any) side effects of this mass builder?
how effective is the protein in it?
what are just some general pro's con's regarding this particular formula?

there's no side effects from calories except gaining weight if it puts you over your maintanence. So there really aren't any "medical" side effects.
As far as how effective it is, i don't know, someone else hopefully will chime in and help you with that one.

I think the point is, that unless you're getting a tremendous deal on the stuff (unlikely), there are much cheaper, and equally effective, ways of getting extra calories in.

what in it makes it crap exactly? It's basically nothing but sugar and artificial sweeteners. It's very easy to make a shake with 800+ calories that is a much healthier alternative than the garbage in this weight gainer.

Opticen is a better, more reasonably priced alternative. Combine it with ETS and Creatine 500 and you will gain like never before!

If you can't determine whether or not a weight gainer is "healthy", "crappy" or will help you gain weight then I think you need to do some research on the fundamentals of supplementation my friend.

Generally speaking anyone who thinks the last three questions are legitimate is very unlikely to have a nutrition plan.
Please note:
We are not trying to give you a hard time. The vets here can tell a lot about a poster by the questions they ask. Listen to the advice you are being given, formulate a nutrition plan and you will gain like never before.

i dont get the feeling you guys are giving me a hard time, i just dont understand were you get the idea that people can anaylze my history just by 5 off hand posts on the internet.
im not making one of those posts like "hey im 6'1 hardgainer, will this powder give me muscle?" i know theres alot of crap out there and i was pretty much just trying to figure out if its worth it to use it, and if theres any neg side effects. i just got mild creatine side effects (bloting, cramping) even when being hydrated. ive been an athelte for years and on several strict diets, its not news to me. my diet has included simple whey protein shakes with whole milk, im just looking for extra calories, and an effective protein mix.

There aren't really any negative sides other than it's mostly just sugar and protein and there are much healthier alternatives out there. Not to mention the fact that it's way overpriced. I'd just go with regular protein powder and mix that in your own homemade shakes.
