Awhile ago I posted an article about how much Vitamin A one should take daily because of a program I saw on tv. I saw the program again, on KBS. The man said the best intake for Vitamin A is 2,500 IU in a supplement pill (IE your multivitamin) Now regardless of this is correct or not, Hypervitaminosis A does exist.

The supplement I take is from Costco, and provides 5,000 IU of Vitamin A (about 30% Beta Chlorine) and so I was a bit alarmed. So I did some research.

Some people take as much as 50,000 IU a day without problems, but others can get sick for long periods of a time with as little as 25,000 IU. But the recomended values on most sites is so low, at about 3,000 IU for males 18 and older. So with my MultiVits I am getting 100% of the recomended value. Not to mention I also eat egg whites, which are high in Vit A.

I have multiple sources, all kind of saying multiple things. Because of my fear of hypervitaminosis A (Vitamin A Toxicity) I don't take my multivit on days I take vitamin rich foods like a lot of egg white and protein bars.

Here are my sources:

I wouldn't worry about it, personally. I'm not sure about your multis but you can take unlimited amounts of A if they are in a natural (pre-converted form) like beta carotene.
