Should protein powders be cycled? I heard about creatine being more effective if you go on it for a while and then come off for a week or two. Is this also true for protein?

I think you would have a very hard time eliminating protein from your diet. And even if you could, I wouldn't do it.

No need to cycle either.

I heard if you cycle food, eating for two months and then fasting for two weeks... man those gains during the two weeks of fasting is incredible!

The not eating for two weeks thing is what I was referring to. Also, I was joking.

Maybe you can cycle breathing too...that's right up there with the idea of cycling protein. Both not viable options in my book :)

Breathing IS cycled. Oxygen in <--> carbon dioxide out.

Why bother with the smiley? If someones missed out on your attempt at sarcasm chances are they are too stupid to get your point to begin with.

lol, i love how everyone piled in here with the same answer, just repeating everyone else.
i beg to differ, but cant be bothered to get into it right now... :P and i dont mean to say "cycling is required", but comming off that stuff every now and then is potentially a good idea.
Sometimes our intestines can become coated, stomach flora broken down.... you ever get kind of an upset stomach after taking whey...

Going off of it for a while might be a good idea just to be on the safe side of things, but only for the mere idea of going off of it. Not the whole "cycling" thing.

I guess if that were the case, then he should've said "creatines".

if you read his post thought magna, i don't believe that's what he inteded at all. he said he heard its beneficial to come off for a week or two. The only intelligent explanation i can think of is along the lines of what Roddy said; if this isn't it, it's just a bad question that reflects a lack of credible research
