I have been taking creatine for the past couple months and love the results but because of my class schedule I don't have time to eat anything directly after working out and sometimes I get the shakes if I don't eat after working out. I am thinking about getting some whey for a postworkout to hold me over for an hour or two while I am in class.
Is this going to benefit my muscle mass? Any negative effects?
I searched this topic and didn't find anything directly asking this question but rather mixing creatine/whey together.

I've been told taking a protein shake pre-workout provides fuel for your body, so you body doesn't feed off the the fat or muscle for fuel??
Taker your creatine post workout, better absorbed into the muscles

You're supposed to take creatine after a workout to replenish your ATP stores. And no, there's no problem mixing it with whey. It'd be good to add some grape juice (real) for a carrier. If you can, eat some real food afterwards as well.

I take 5g of creatine directly after working out with water and dextrose. Then I will shower and make a protein shake.

To offset this I eat light b4 going, then post workout the supplements.

You can take all before, you can take all after, you can talk half before, you can take half after...it's really up to you.
It'd be good to add some grape juice (real) for a carrier.Grape juice is not an optimal source of carbs for mixing with creatine. Dextrose/malto are better choices.

Dextrose = Sugar
You can get it anywhere online... www.supplementdirect.com is one place..but if you search you can find much cheaper I'm sure.
