..to not have any carbs before lifting?

Also, what about for HIIT? That is, I'll get carbs in postworkout. Just not before.

it's okay, but you run the risk of low energy levels and probably not getting the best workout. Some people on here take caffeine as a replacement to carbs before the workout. I might try a variation with that and see what works best for you.

I haven't had over 10g of carbs in a day for the past 4 days, and had some solid workouts. Depends on what your going for.

Take enough of the necessary stimulant, and you can do anything.

Maybe sip on a whey/dex shake while you lift?

Oh okay. So it won't be detrimental (sp) to my gains?

it shouldnt be as long as you have to proper post workout meal and a good overall diet

I think Built always says if your pre workout isnt dialed in then your post workout better be and vice versa. Mainly its the lack of energy that not consuming pre-carbs thats a concern. If you have sufficient energy and have eaten some prior to that, it shouldnt be a problem.

Are you lifting first thing in the morning?

I don't do the dextrose in water thing, so I'll often eat half a poptart(that's half of 1 poptart) a while before my workout. It helps with sweet cravings throughout the day, and it's something to look forward to.

No, I lift after school right around 4pm.

I usually have a tuna sandwich (protein + carbs) an hour before. It doesn't really give me energy. And by the time I finish lifting, I'm not even that hungry so I have to force myself to eat more carbs.

The fact that you are bulking should really help. It would generally be more difficult while cutting.
