Eh, not a fan of the PS3 at the moment. Although the graphics are great and the way they layer the information onto the discs is fantastic, you need a good enough Tv to even get good graphics out of the thing, which I cannot afford.

Plus the system is 600, it may be a bargain, but it is also 600.

i broke down and bought one last weekend. i'm still not quite sure why, i think i was just bored, lol. picked up motorstorm this week, and its pretty decent. i imagine my 360 will be getting much more playing time for a while. the blu-ray playback was the big draw for me. tag is bowlinrl.

Blue Ray playback + bigger HDD + the ability to store videos on it (that upscale themselves to HD) and the unit upscaling regular dvds as far as 1080p is a big plus.

You'll really start seeing grand slam titles about the end of this year beginning of next.

edit. Sony is still working on upconverting dvd's and old ps and ps2 games. Hopefully it will be part of the next Firmware upgrade

You don't HAVE to have a ridiculously priced HDTV to enjoy HD graphics. HDTV's are relatively cheap these days.

ok, i put in some time on the ps3 tonight for basically the first time since i picked it up. played some resistance and motorstorm. both are ok, but nothing special. i'm a little underwhelmed at the moment, but i guess that's what i expected. at the moment, the 360 has the advantage over the ps3 in all categories. games, graphics, online, you name it. some quality titles look like they'll be out in the next few months, though.

Your stacking first gen titles aginst second gen titles. The first 360 games were crappy ports of xbox games and didn't look that good at all. Even the first PS3 games are much better then PS2 games and are right on the heels of the 360 games. you think? i've gotta disagree with that statement. imo, the ps3 is behind if anything. i bought a 360 right at launch, and the titles looked quite a bit better than the ps3 launch titles. kameo, cod 2, pgr3 all looked great. in terms of graphics i'm really not even all that impressed with motorstorm, which is the best ps3 has to offer at the moment.

its gonna be awhile before the ps3 starts closing in on the 360 in that area. developers are clearly having a hard time programming the cell. couple that with the RSX and limited RAM, and you've got a problem. the ps3 has its work cut out for it if its going to catch up to the 360, but i'm hoping to see some great stuff out of it soon. heavenly sword, in particular, looks awesome.

i wouldn't count on that. maybe mgs4. most ps3 games aren't going to be 1080p anyways, despite what sony was saying a year ago. i think that within the next year, ps3 graphics will catch up with 360 and it will basically be a wash. however, you're going to have some console exclusive games for each that will be real standouts.

I agree and like I've told people on another forum and people I talk with. I'd have all 3 systems if I had the cash because im sure there will be games on all three that I'll play. Most of the games I want to play are on the PS3 and I already have it, probably still wouldn't go with a 360 unless I could have both. Even the Wii has some titles im interested in.

Launch for me is later this month and its on about 1000 Australian launch price, which is a little cheaper than 600 US.

i have a 360 a wii and a ps3... imo the ps3 wins the battle... at least eventually will... as for titles the 360 is ahead at the moment, but most of the good titles on the 360 are being produced with better ai for the ps3 and indeed the graphics are better for the ps3 not the only fact that you can achieve 1080p with certain games, but all the graphics are being reproduced via hdmi as well. not to mention cost is in favor of ps3... if you think about it you get the console with blu-ray playback a 60 gig harddrive and wifi for 600 where as if you purchase the 360 it comes with what? a 10 gig or something, hd-dvd for an extra 200 and the wifi for 100 equating to 700 dollars. What do I know though I have the ps3 to play movies and the 360 for halo 3 which isnt even out and for hd-dvd's... it's all about the wii.

The only concern i have with 360 is when they try and make 1080p games i don't know how they're going to fit it on a dvd format? maybe multiple discs? whereas with ps3 they have the all the space they want with the dual maybe even triple layer bluray.

the only way 360 can produce and play 1080p games is if 360's rumor about a new upcoming system "zephyr" is released which is rumored to have hdmi a new processor and a 120 gig harddrive... who knows maybe its true maybe not, but there sure will be a lot of upset microsoft customers.

You won't see single disk 1080p games out on the 360. If they want 1080p games, they'll have to go HD-DVD and then screw over the 10+ million installed user base already existing. Saying, either upgrade your system or screw off!

360 has WAY smaller HDD (core doesn't even have one) and no wifi (unless you wanna fork over a huge price) and doesn't play any type of next gen dvd's out of the box (another 200$) putting a core on par or more expensive with the more expensive PS3 and even then your not getting as much.

Ya Blu-Ray is one of my favorite features on the PS3 so far. HD-DVD is already being taken off shelves in some cities. It's not even supposed to make it to the end of the year. Just a heads up for any of you 360 people lookin to buy that hd-dvd add on, dont waste your money.

More space in this regard = better. You have a considerably larger size to deal with (15GB vs 25GB per layer) and it seems Blu-Ray has the better backings as of right now. Only thing that may keep HD-DVD afloat for a while is that Blu-Ray doesn't seem to willing to work with the porn industry and thats a large market to let go all to HD-DVD.

I wouldn't count out HD-DVD, but it seems Blu-Ray is gaining ground and its selling better for sure.

Sony should start widening the gap by releasing more exclusives. It would be a big blow to HD DVD IF or WHEN Lucas gives the green light to fox to release a star wars box set on blueray.

ps A little tip for you guys watching sony exclusive movies on your ps3.if you hit the triangle and enter 7669 (sony), ps3 will automatically calibrate your tv for optimum picture quality. not sure it this works with standalone players tho.

Honestly the really good games won't be coming for the PS3 for another 8 or so months. If you need the money now and know you'd have it in the future then just wait. You could easily enjoy that PS2 for a few more months and then go ahead and grab up a PS3 around October or so.

IMO there are no PS3 titles out that warrant you drop that much money right now. I pulled the trigger fast, but I play the hell out of madden and resistance. Now I'm waiting for Resident Evil 5, Metal Gear Solid 4, GTA 4, FFXIII, Guitar Hero 3 (won't be until atleast summer 08 - winter 08) and Killzone 2. Most of those titles should be hitting around winter 07.

agreed. not worth it right now unless you've just got the cash to burn. i picked up god of war 2 yesterday, and i'm sure i'll be playing that much more than any ps3 games for the next few months.

Kind of what I figured. The game I play religiously is Madden 07. I might just grab the online adapter for ps2 and wait a few months for more titles to come out.

How's resistance fall of man? I thought it was suppose to be the title to hold you over until all the other titles came out. I like the pre-WWII alien invasion premise. It gives it an almost steam-punk meets alien feel. I've yet to play it though. Also, for those interested in the quality of Blu-Ray films I suggest the following rating of blu-ray transfers. I love blu-ray...the only thing it has going against it is the crappy quality of some 1st generation transfers and the absence of Universal titles. I really wish I could get serenity on blu-ray.

Resistance is good, but I've beaten the story mode already (a few times) and the multiplayer is great but I just have SO much time in it. After I beat all those games I've mentioned above then Resistance might be worthy of another play through. It is a great game though.

Resistance is a pretty good shooter game. but then again there's not much to compare it with. I'm on the same boat as the other guys, waiting for the good titles to come out. there's a rumor that SOCOM might be coming out late this year.

i wasn't really impressed with resistance. its a decent shooter, but nothing special. to me it was the same as every other generic fps that comes out every week. it does have some pretty cool guns and multiplayer is fun, but its not a system seller.

i have a 360...but i am a fan of both, and when i get the money i will get the ps3 as for right now i am waiting for them to fix the bugs in the ps3 and such before i buy it. I still have tyhe 360 from release day and it just went bad 2 days ago and now it does not work. But i love the game play and the games on the 360 so its soemthing i am going to have to have again. And i have played the ps3 that wal mart has had since release day and its broken and they have been through 3....so i am just going to wait till maybe summer time or next christmas to try and get my hands on one.

nope...just got old...faimly and i played the hell out of it...it was in an open area ontop of a table so it wouldnt pick up dirt and dust from the carpet and we put it in a cabinent when it was not beeing used...just...went poof....almost 2 years old, lol. Lasted longer then most people, and we have the intercooler system for it and everything got that a few months ago. Took all the percations for it.

Fight night is all about mastering the dodge... I'm like 65-0 in my career now and getting down the dodging made the entire game a joke.

Resistance (IMO) has a better story line then GoW did, but everyone creams in their pants over the shadowing and lighting in GoW.

Might pick up motorstorm when my rebate check comes in.

Ya I heard Socom for PS3 will come out late 2007 or January 2008... probably the latter, as there are delays in so many game developments. I will be losing sleep playing the new SOCOM. They really should bring back every single map. I miss my socom 1 and 2 maps for sure.

Did you guys see the capabilities of the new Upscaling update that just came out? Upscales all PS1 and PS2 games, and regular DVDs. The difference is incredible. I had to mess with the settings to get it full screen and smooth it, but I'm very impressed with the update.
