Try a can of tuna
Nothing like tuna in the morning

I'd go with oatmeal and protein.

Alright....not quite the answers i was looking for but ok.....anybody else?
try downing a protein shake alone
No point in consuming too much carbs 1/2 hr before u workout, especially if you're taking in solid food, cuz it wont be digested or absorbed in time to be used then. You'll be pulling from your glycogen pools from your previous day's meals.
You'd still need protein in any case
just my 2 cents. Dunno how much validity that has, maybe some other nutrition guru can verify that

First thing in the morning your muscle glycogen stores may be low so I'd guess that Oatmeal or rice would be a better choice before weight training.

Hmmmm, not a huge difference between them in terms of GI (69vs77) but the Banana would have more fructose which wouldn't aid in his workout right?

I'm not sure if fructose would have any impact on pre workout or not. Anybody know for sure? Also since he is working out pretty much right after he's eating, wouldn't he be better off going with some high GI carbs for this meal?
