Ok, I have gotten through the first week of learning WBB1. I am still working on my form with unfamiliar exercises, but i plan for my weight to go up fast. My diet has been a constant 4-5000 calories a day. Once i learn more recipes and clean up my diet a little more ill start tracking it on fitday. I still work 40+ hours a week, so taking in all the calories is tough. I think about quiting everyday, and getting a more fitness involved career...:)

I am 6'3'', and roughly 200lbs right now. I have never really had a problem putting on weight or muscle, but putting on 30-40 lbs is a different story. I have no "real" time frame...but i am working hard to reach my goal. I'll post pics bi-monthly, and would love comments about anything...



....and my first real day of Chest/Back.......Ill be stronger soon:)

Thanks Unholy...im really interested to see where this takes me...

I thought i might add....Im taking protien, fish oil, and a multi-vit...for now.

I just got done with a 10 hour sleep (wich i never do). The deads are killin me, but im lovin it. I can't wait to really rack up the weight on that one...

Tomorrow night...LEGS :(...i'll let you know how it goes:)

I used to hate doing legs, but i can see enjoying this as my weight goes up...they are definetly my weakest link right now.

ah thanks Stepto...well this is truly my second week of legs, so im not nearly as sore as i was last week. I am pretty sore though...still:)

BUT, YES! the legs come back fast:)...i havent done any real work on them since my knee surgery, and in just two weeks...im joggin around with highschool LAX players, and showin some long pole moves:) It was great!...i havent helped with a practice in like 8 months...the coach said i should still be playing:)

....It was like a dream come true!!!

**EDIT...So i am much more sore than i was when i wrote this...which was about 4 hours ago lol...

Ok, some ladies in LA convinced me to stay long enough to miss my PM workout....but it wasn't alll bad:) So Chest/Back got pushed to this morning, and it looks like AM workouts for the rest of the week, untill i can switch back... I did however manage to stay on my diet (+ about 2 beers) while I was in the city...

Broke many PRs for myself this morning (must of been cuz i was grumpy:)). I just wish i had someone to watch my deadlifts. I might make a video, because sometimes they just dont feel right...Although it is only my second week doing them.

I pushed myself pretty good this morning. I think my form is even getting better. I wish my strength would always go up at this rate:) I feel like my muscles are getting much bigger, but i am definitely slimming down in certain areas..like my waist, and in my face. I didn't think that would happen, so i am wondering if i should take in even MORE calories....?

lifting while grumpy i s always good for the numbers!! unless you dont get something then it makes it worse....eeekk

so what are your cals like?? have you lost any actual weight?? or can you just see differences

yea not getting something when your grumpy makes you want to yell at the random dude spotting you:)

I have been taking well over 4k calories a day. I have not lost any pounds as far as i know. I will do another weigh in tomorrow, and post my current weight with shoulder/arm day. Its mostly other people saying my face looks thinner, and my pants are fallin off a little more than usual:)

Wasn't too thrilled with today's workout. Arms/shoulders are usually my best, but today i sold myself short by not remembering the weights i did last week. I also had a spotter last week, for whatever its worth. I did weigh in over 200lbs today...wich was nice:) Im just gonna have to go extra hard on arms next week...blah what a waste.

if you are up in weight I wouldnt worry about the leaner aperance...sounds like fats coming off a little...eventually your body will get used to the cals and new exercise and you will have to adjust but sounds preety good for now


and get your self a training journal!!! like paper and pencil it will keep you on track and acountable

yes like my sisiter said get your self a notbeook and write edown your workouts and bring the journal wiht you to the journal so you mak esure you go up in weights i know i cant rememebr how much weight i did a week ago i pretty much every day look back to my last week of workous

Stepto- Yea, once i weighed in over 200 i stopped worrying about the thinning waist line:)

Will- thx bro, im workin on liftin the weights like you do...nice and heavy:)

Stepto/8.8- I try to take in a peice of paper and pen with me, but after 3 weeks you can imagine how un-organized that gets:) So i will follow your advice and get a lil' journal to take with me. I sweat like a pig however, so whatever i get..its gonna have to be water proof:)

Ok, so now i have a show in Nov. The people Im working with weren't too into the bulking idea but i say screw them, I DO WHAT I WANT!. So, I need to do a killer cut right before Nov. Then after the show...back to bulking:). So i figure i can bulk now untill....Late Sept/Oct???

Joined a new gym today, so i started week 3 a day early:) Bench felt GREAT, and my form on deadlifts is starting to feel/look really good. I broke PRs today that i set for myself in highschool...so that was sweet:) Still weighed in at 201, but i feel bigger and stronger everyday. Ill post pics again at 205...wich i hope is soon.

Nice work man,sounds like you could of gone heavier with bench. You should try doing weighted dips if possible. I know that once i switched to them i was hooked! By the way, what weight are you trying to get up too?

oh and you should se my training journal....its been thru eveything my diet guy likes to make fun of me for it

Will- Thanks man, i do plan on going heavier with the bench next week:)...and the weighted dips sound like a great idea...i just gotta get the belt set up for that. I want to see if i can hit a pretty lean 220-225 by Sept, then try to cut down to atleast 10% BF (at 15% right now).

Stepto- Its a hair stylist runway show. So the way my body looks isnt incredibly important, cuz its more about hair. I am working with professional models, and i don't think i need to tell you not one of them comes close to 200 lbs, let alone 225:) Modeling is a total part time joke for me, so i say screw the trend...I can still be pretty at 225...or 250 even:)

i'd be careful about your weight tho if you actully want to do the show im in the production crew for a fashion show and models have been cut left and right because of little things

I wont get cut from this show, because i was chosen by the stylist...and it's mainly for my hair:) However youre right there will be pictures taken, and they will hopefully be added to my portfolio. Modeling isn't really anything i take too seriously, i got a normal job to pay the bills:) It would be nice to have some totally ripped body shots at 220 though:) So, durring this bulk if i get too over 15-16% BF...I will probably start cutting then just to be safe. I'd rather be big an strong than be a model though, and yea Im really starting to like leg day!!

Workout felt pretty decent today. I feel like my arms in shoulders are slowing down, but i'll wait to see how I do next week.. I also hit 205 yesterday morning, and it doesnt appear like ive gained any fat..then again I'll have to look at some before and after pics:)

the bad news....

So yesterday I wake up about 530am have a big shake and some toast. Then I go to the gym around 615am, lift, and go home and eat more before work. After i had got to work i felt fine...I had about 2000 cals so far that day, and pleanty of water. After being at work for about an hour i felt very strange...I drank a bottle of water and seconds later i hit the floor in my office. A co-worker took me to the hospital...where after a hundred tests the docs couldn't figure me out. Now, My drivers licence has been suspended...untill they see if this happens again. BAH!, how stoooopid...so i am going to take my scheduled days off, and if i feel fine...BACK TO THE HEAVY LIFTING!!!!

Hope everyhting is well man, take care of yourself! Sounds weird, wonder what it was? Maybe you just got up to quick and got lighthead causing you to blank out? Happened to me once.

make sure you are breathing when you lift...my sister as passed out after lifting and my brother had cronic headaches because they would hold their breaths when they lifted

I have no clue it that what it really is but its something to keep in mind

nice upper day have you gotten ur slef a training book yet ?

Work hard and smart bro and you will be amazed at what you can do. I suggest Built's Baby Got Back routine after you've done WBB1 for a while. I've modified it a wee tiny bit with some of the movements I did because my aim was slightly different then that of the programs but I followed it 95% and I made very nice size and strength gains, VERY nice gains.

Keep at it bro, time is the only thing between you and your goals!

Will- Yea im thinkin it was a one time thing. Nothin like that has ever happend to me, so i freaked some people out. My boss know my moms, so thats probably the only reason i got sent to the hopital...u know how moms are...

Stepto- My brother alomost passed out from that aswell once, so ive been careful ever since his mistake. I will be extra cautious though...and no i havent gotten a training book yet:(..im still using little folded up peices of paper that are all over my room:)

Irl- Thanks man..Im lookin for that routine...see if i can get some powerful legs! Thanks for the support man...I'll keep truckin like you homie:)

I go see the Doc tomorrow...after i get the greeen light im goin straight to the gym for chest and back! Went down to 203lbs again today so i gotta get that back up:)

Wasn't feeling to energized this morning, and my numbers show it. I did hit the scales at 205, but im not too happy about my lift today. I went up in weight only on bench, and deads, but i felt weaker in other areas (im blaming the extra bodyweight :))...I almost feel like i could rep 300 w/ deads, but im just workin my way there slowly.

Man, if you want some big squat numbers, check out Starr's 5x5. You'll be throwing more weight on the bar all the time! It really focuses on teh squats.

Your pressing looks real good though. Should be well over 200 in a few months if you keep it up. Squats and deads will come eventually if you keep doing what you're doing.

Chris- Yea, i like the looks of a 5x5 routine...it's probably what I will be moving on to. I noticed some very nice gains in your journal...

off day today...taking in my 4000+ clean calories, and getting lots of rest for leg day:clap:

I bench as much as I squat....that is very sad:( ...working to change that though. I also found out that my right thigh is a whole inch smaller than my left...wich i need to change aswell. BW was 206lbs today...different scale though so i dunno...

So i did deadlifts today with a belt...don't know if i need it, but i figured might aswell. My deadlifts actually felt harder with the belt on...strange? I really want my flat bench to go up, but i guess i did much better with the dumbells:) I also weighed in at just about 215, and 220 is dead in my sights. I also feel like it might be time to change up my routine a little?

5 pounds is nothing- you can get 220 for sure!!!

after 6 weeks id be ready for a new workout to - i get bored easily

8.8- Yea i know i can make 220 no problem. I have also managed to not add much fat at all....BUT! looking at my body at 216...im no where near as big as i want to be. So, i think my next stop is going to be 245. As soon as i hit 220, i am going to change my routine to something else...

Weighed in at 216 today, and it looks to me like an extra 30 pounds wont hurt. So i am going to continue my bulk to 245, and see how i look then:) I plan on doing it slow, and painful...to not gain fat. Squats felt really good today, and it looks like im finally getting over that hump...I'm going to take progress pics after i finnish out this week:)

Man, we basically started at the same time, doing the same routine. 'Cept i'm (pseudo) cutting and you're bulking. I wish I would have found your journal sooner!

So what routine are you going to? I'm almost to my goal of 180 (190 now), and I bet I can get there in 6 weeks max. If I switch to a PSMF diet for 2 weeks I'd probably make it just to get there, but I'm not sure how that would affect my decision to bulk after 180.

I'll be honest, I was a fat slob, and in 12 weeks (including 6 on WBB1, and one sick, and 5 weeks just dieting and lifting without knowledge or reason) I've lost about 15 pounds total, and my muscle has started eating away the fat and I can really tell that my body is completely different than it was.

Once I hit 180, or until I can't stand it, I'm gonna switch to the 5x5 and bulk just like you. I want to see gains, and more muscles and all that ****. Reading through your journal has really inspired me today.

Jam- Thanks a lot! The slow bulk is key IMO. You see your results, and goals so much clearer. What you got going seems to be working, ill keep my eye on you for when its time to bulk:) Way to change your body around man, not many on this earth can (will) do that.

Forgot to bring my training journal...so i forgot my weights:( Thus, i ended up wussing out on some lifts. Now i am going to take 2 days off...dial out my calories again, and start a new routine. Basically all the same workouts, but more sets..and less reps. Sound like a good idea?

Forgot to bring my training journal...so i forgot my weights:( Thus, i ended up wussing out on some lifts. Now i am going to take 2 days off...dial out my calories again, and start a new routine. Basically all the same workouts, but more sets..and less reps. Sound like a good idea?

try workin biceps right after shoulders to give your triceps a rest so you can put up more weight/reps when you get to them...i dunno just a thought but nice workout anyway

Sounds great man! I have the rest of this week and all of next, and then it's 1 week off. After that, it's 5x5 all the way with those squats 3x a week. Can't wait!

Step- Yea, I wanna be reppin BIG weight...so i figure im gonna drop down to the 4-6 rep range. Hopefully i can do the same weight for 10 reps when im ready to cut:) (in about 7 months lol)

I am working out my meals for the next 6 weeks as we speak. Being a bachelor... i eat pretty much the same thing everyday, and i dont have a problem with it:). I'm going to slow down my bulk a little, because i think ive been adding a touch of fat:(, and i plan to keep bulking through Nov. I'll take pics tonight, and start using that blasted fitday. Thank you all again for the support...it helps incredibly when there isnt any serious lifters within 50 SQ. miles....

Pics tonight didn't show too much of a difference. So ill just post one side by side...This is 197-215lbs (where I'm at now), but most of the weight has added on my butt/legs. Pics did show a little added fat on the belly, so im going to do more abs:)..and maybe adjust my cals a little.

that a hell of a lot of prs!!! and its kinda hard to tell in the pic whats changed cuz ur poseing it so different..but I would have to agree slow slow bulks are the best idea....and dont forget these things take time look back at these pics in a year and im sure you will be amazed

Tried another new gym today....another no good gym for old people. This place is filled with them. I gotta drive 20 minutes to find a dumbell over 80 pounds. Oh well...they still had a squat rack...and that was all i needed:) Felt really strong today, so i didnt mind goin for some PRs. Im still waiting to hit my original scale at my gym. Hopefully i have broken the 215 mark.

Oh, I completely understand about the crappy gyms that have all the wrong equipment. I once worked out at a place where the owner didn't want me doing deadlifts because he was worried his precious rubber floors would be scuffed. No joke...

Lower back, balance, it involves a little more than the sitting equiv.

I had to drop a bunch of weight when I decided to go ahead and stand up with it all of the time.

Today i met a guy at my gym that was more than willing to spot me. He was pushin me harder to add weight on bench...harder than i was pushin myself. His enthusiasm pushed me through some big time PRs. Man, i was so stoaked on my lift...and still am! I only hope i can run into that dude again, when i can offer him my help in return. I also weighed in at 220lbs today on my original scale! So its a good day for JoJo:)

So when i do squats, or deads I sometimes feel this sharp burning pain in the lower right of my abdomen. It's usually when im wearing this POS temporary belt i picked up. The pain is there for maybe a second...then its gone. No swelling, and no pain continues on. It happend today on my first squat attept for 245...with the belt. I then ditched the belt, and went for it again...with no pain. I honestly have no idea what it is...so maybe someone on here has experienced something similar? After that i got mad, and went kinda crazy on SLDLs...That made me feel a little better. However, my BW went down to 218.5:(....

Ive been fighting through the pain...possibly developing a hernia...but wont know till it happens:) I have still been lifting, and dieting. I will start a new 5x5 journal next week. Im taking a week off...then its go time again! i updated my weights...and more pics to come...
