View Full Version : What exercises and foods to eat to get toned?

I was wondering what exercises along with food choices are the best when trying to get a more toned body. I'm 6'1 about 195 lbs, and I'm really trying to work at getting more toned, and especially getting a six pack. I'd really like to drop down to about 185 lbs. I'd appreciate any suggestions people have for me. Thanks.

Dropping boyfat is 100% diet. Lift heavy. Eat slightly under maintenance and you will get where you want to be.

I don't think Skid007 has been on the boards long enough to know what Maintenance means.

Maintenance is when you eat just enough calories to sustain your current weight .

So if you eat less, you will lose weight, and if you are lifting heavy weights, the weight you lose should be fat.

The easiest thing I found when trying to drop a little below maint. is to eat what you normally eat... just cut your portions back. If you used to eat a foot long sub... get a 6". Use a smaller plate... then when you're loading it up with food, it'll take less to fill, etc. You'll find that within a few days to a week.. these portions will satisfy your hunger just as well as the big portions used to. You'll be cutting calories... without torturing yourself to cause you to quit your diet.

Now, of course, this isn't the perfect way to do things. It worked well for me though when I started cutting some weight. While you're doing that, you should stick around here and read as much as possible and try to tune your diet so that you're also eating the right things.

Eat smaller, eat often, lift heavy.

As for your new routine, you'll be doing WBB1, with no variation other than increasing weight if you can handle it. Get into the gym 3 times (1 hour each time) per week. WBB1 is here: http://www.wannabebig.com/article.php?articleid=25&pageid=1
Start on those deadlifts slowly and light and get your form (technique) up to scratch before going too heavy, but make sure you get to really heavy eventually.
