View Full Version : Large amount of calories late in the day..bad?

So I find sometimes that I get behind on my caloric intake on some days because I end up doing things I didnt plan to. I get home and realize...hey Ive only eaten 2500 calories. I need 1000 more! So I eat, this happend last night. At 930 I had a 500 calorie meal. Then I made a 500 calorie shake, drank it about and hour n 15 minutes later then hit the hay.
Is 1000 calories squeezed into that small of a time frame bad, especcially if it is a third of my daily intake.
probably not. hell right before bed is a good time to have cals since they will be used in repair while you are sleeping.

Nah that's cool. When I'm bulking I routine kill 1200-1500 calories after dinner.

I don't eat much during the day, so once it's dinner time, I stuff in ~2500 calories from then until bed time.

I am in the exact situation. Due to a hectic college schedule, I don't get home until almost midnight and usually starving my then and eat a huge meal (usually turkey sandwich, cottage cheese, soup, tea, and some pb) before bed.
I always heard of the "eat breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, and dinner like a pauper" quote, and always justified my late night snack as a large bfast since after midnite = the next days already... haha
but seriously, do you guys think a large late nite meal (high in protein) is good? When I wake up, I still usually eat a pretty big breakfast on or a nitrean shake followed by a good meal on days when I workout in the morning.

basically it comes down to calories in vs. calories out, your body really doesn't know time.

thats good to know, i usually eat my last meal around 1 am and I usually will only eat before 10 am once a week
