View Full Version : Morning workouts for a noob. What to eat?

Good evening all, and happy easter from the west coast.
I am here because I need some advice, and hopefully someone can help me out. I am 26 soon to be 27 years old, and have been heavy my whole life. I currently have no health problems due to my obesity, but fear that if I do not do something soon I may be hit by them sooner or later. I recently hit the scale and I tipped it at a whopping 401 lbs!!! sickening!
Upon leanring of my enourmous weight, I drove to the local Gold's Gym and joined right away! My diet has been very clean for the last 3 days as well. Tommorrow I will begin working out for the first time in a year! I plan to wake up at 6 am, eat a light meal and head to the gym at 6:30 am; I have to workout early cause I go to school and I work. Now my question is, what would be the right meal for such an early morning workout? I was thinking a protein shake and 3 slices of whole wheat.
Any suggestions? btw I will be doing the WBB Routine #1 and immediatly after I will do 20 minutes of walking on the treadmill.

I would suggest an fruit,cottage cheese or possibley yogert in place on the wheat bread...for sure keep the protien in there tho...you can always use a whole food protien source tho too
sometimes people will think they are eatting clean and in reality they arent...im just curiouse what the last 3 days of eatting has looked like for you ?

Oatmeal with a scoop of whey and diced apple is usually my breakfast. I sometimes alternate with some eggbeaters 2 slices of wheat, and 2 pieces of turkey sausage.
Lunch has been 2 turkkey sandwiches on wheat with tomato, avacodo, romaine, and light non-fat mayo.
Dinner is chicken breast, salmon, and talaia. With two cups of brocoli florets.
I ate 3 meals with 2 snacks.
I am still trying to balance it out, but I have not any fast food, or soda. Which were staples in my diet.

I would go with the fruit and whey before the workout.
at 401 lbs you could still eat a great deal of food and lose a considerable amount of weight.
You will be pleased with the initial results. Good luck and stay motivated. We are all here to help and encourage.

a lot of overweight people experience good weight loss even from just cutting out fast food and soda from their diets, so that was a great step.

very nice...seems like youve got the tools now you just have to use them
do you track you calories at all?
oats are another good thing for morning meals...if they arent to heavy for you before a workout

I just finished a book called "Burn the fat feed the muscle" by Tom Venuto. It was a very good read about nutirition and I took a lot of notes on it. I am not really counting my calories, I have tried using fitday, but the food database seems a little off kilter for some reason.

i use fitday but i also customize ALOT of the foods, even fruits and vegetables. I go to the USDA website and get the numbers per 100g and enter it into fitday that way.

It is 7:05 am, and I feel great! I just got home from the gym and I had a great workout.
I did my routine for a good 45 minutes and walked on the treadmill for 10 minutes with an incline of 3.0. I am actually short 10 minutes ( I planned on 20) But I will make up for it tommorrow.
Pre workout I had 1 scoop ON whey and a Banana.
For breakfast I am having Scrambled eggs, mild low fat chedder, and 2 lean turkey sausages. with two pieces of whole wheat.
Could somone with Mod capabilities place this in the journals forum?

thats 10 minutes longer then you did the day before...gotta start somewhere nice job...Im glad your going to keep this as a journal so we can follow along

Just enjoyed a great lunch. 6" subway turkey breast dbl meat, lettuce, tomato, and cucumbers.
And of course my water.

Just start a journal in the journal section.
Anyways, best of luck. I use to be well over 300lbs of fatty. Now I'm 230 and feel tons better.
