I hit a pretty big box jump today for a set of 3, i'm gonna say it was 50 or 58 inches. I think it was a 3 foot box with a 14 inch box on top of it but the second box may have been 12 inches. anyways I felt it was pretty good after squatting singles on monday and being 10 practices into spring ball.
Progression went
1 leg jumps x 3 each leg at 36 inches for 2 sets
and then 1 set of 3 at 50 inches.

So 3' = 36"

36" + 14" = 50" ok there

36" + 12" = 48"

where do you get the 58" or did you mean 48"?

nice jumping.

Ericg... leave BigRic alone... he goes to Central Michigan University... Chippewas aren't known for being educated in simple math. lol... Just busting on ya BigRic...

Awesome box jumps... I wish mine was 50% of any of those numbers... 48, 50 or 58...

good jumps 50 - 58" is a wide spread, but 50" is still high.

50" is impressive but not unheard of. Definitely good at your size, though. I'd love to try some box jumps one of these days, but I have nothing to do them on.

It was a typo, but the sciences and maths here aren't very good. I meant 48 or 50 I'll see if I can get a measurement.

Get creative, Guido - I go to the local park and just do them on benches/jungle gym equipment. So far, I have three different "boxes" that I'm working on...

6'0 200, I'm trying to gain weight i was up around 205, but with spring practice workouts n class and then living with 2 offensive lineman a qb who weighs 230 and another guy who's over 200 pounds it's hard to keep food in the house and i'm usually too tired/ lazy to make food.

So far, I have three different "boxes" that I'm working on...I can't think of a single piece of equipment at one of my local parks that would be good for doing box jumps onto (sturdy enough, high enough, etc.). I guess your parks are better than mine for that sort of thing.

I use stairs at the gym. Its not perfect but it works ok.

I do them at the park as well. Not on the play equipment, cuz like you said, it's usually too low or too flimsy. I've had pretty good luck however finding appropriate sized landscaping boulders, rock/concrete garden walls, tree stumps, and that sort of thing. Not always an ideal way to do jumps, but it adds variety. Just make sure it's safe to land on.

Try the bleachers at a track or a baseball field.

I guess stairs or bleachers could work, though it's less vertical jumping than a box would be. If Illinois wasn't so flat I'm sure there would be more I could jump onto. I guess you just have to make do with what you've got access to, though.

Just to bump this I actually jumped higher than what I thought I finally measured the box today and one was 12 and one was 41.5 so I really jumped 53.5 inches for 3.
