I tried some rack deads today using mini-bands as they are all I have. I set the pins so that the bar was just above my knee. I worked my way up to 7 plates per side and had to add wrist straps. My top set was 9 plates per side plus the mini-bands which equates to roughly 925 lbs of resistance at the top. I GOT IT BABY!

That was BY FAR the most weight I have ever hoisted in any fashion. I was not wearing a belt and only used the straps after 7 plates per side.

That's pretty sick!

I believe you use the hook grip for deadlifts if I remember correctly. Before straps were added did you use the hook grip?

Yep. The 7 plates was plus the minis was right at the limit. It is getting to the point where my grip is the limiting factor. I will see the next time I deadlift heavy from the floor.

I wonder if the ability to pull like that has something to do with how freakish your back looks?

Get in a push/pull meet. Show 'em how its done.

I have been considering getting a deadlift suit and seeing what can be done.

I don't think you need the suit.

You and your hook grip and no belt amped up at a meet could probably pull close to the USAPL record. Assuming you are a 242, that's 815. If you are a 220, it's 799.

Well, thank you for the vote of confidence, but I think I am only good for right around 700 lbs right now (totally raw). I weigh under 220 lbs so that would be the class.

I may start one up again. I am training a couple of guys for a bodybuilding show right now so my training is a bit odd.

I agree. Even if your training is not as consistent as you'd like, I'm sure there'd be plenty to look at and learn from.

Nice pulling! 700 in 220 class might be a record depending on the fed. Get a suit and see what you can do! Get up to 750 and you'll definitely be in record territory.

The gentleman I am training is getting ready for a natural show in Maryland in June. When I train with him I am training for bodybuilding, otherwise I am training for strength as usual.
