View Full Version : How much do you spend on food shopping a week?

I ask because I am dieting but finding it very hard to get a lot of protein intake (I read somehwere you are meant to get as much protein as you weight in lb).

Here is what I eat in a typical day

Breakfast - 3 pieces shredded wheat in semi skinned mlik
dinner - 130g drained Tuna with pasta
Tea - Corn Beef Ash (Mix of mash, corn beef and peas) with half tin beans
Supper - 2 pieces shredded wheat, 2 slices of white bread toasted with low fat margerine

I sometimes throw in 3 egg whites at breakfast too, I don't have corn beef ash everyday but I would say calories of tea would be about the same everyday.

Does that look about right?? I struggle to use fitday as I don't measure the exact weight of the stuff I eat and it seems very americanised.

i spend 100 dollars every 2 weeks at wal mart, and this includes dishwashing detergent, toiletries, and anything else i might need. you have to shop smart, and keep eating out to a minimum. you can make a whole tray of amazing protein bars for under 5 dollars.

$300 every two weeks or so.

$100 every 2 weeks is impressive

About $50 a week. $17-18 for a pack of chicken breast at costco, maybe $10 in protein powder a week, $5 for 3lbs of cottage cheese, $6 for a 6lb bag of oats that last months, $6 for a huge sack of brocolli that last a week, and a few other little items (hummus, feta, olive oil, seasonings). This also feeds my girlfriend dinner every night. Eating clean and healthy is cheap.

50 sounds about right.

$150/w, + $115/month on supplements when bulking.

When I go to the grocery store, I just make sure to get 40-50 servings of protein, lots of veggies/salads and some complex carbs/EFA's. Protein & veggies is what kills me.

When cutting I don't spend much at all.

That's like my girl spending a fortune in the fresh food and organic sections. Meanwhile, I'm going ever week or two spending most my time in the bulk and meat sections. :)

I just got back from safeway, and every week I average 100 bucks. Bulking is EXPENSIVE.

I buy from local butchers and pay more than supermarket prices for quality and freshness

Plus i'm pretty sure Britain's more expensive than the US for groceries

It averages out to about $75/week, although that figure includes stuff like soap, razor blades, paper towels, etc. and also my supplements.

£40 a week

If I add it up I might get sick. Just at my work alone (breakfast and eating in or out for lunch 5 days a week) I spend about 80 to 100 a week. More depending on how many times I hit the Sushi bar for lunch. Just me eating goes anywhere from 16 bucks to 60 for lunch.

I go out to dinner a few times a week easy with wife and or entire family (4 kids, 3 BIG boys 12yrs old (doc says will be over 6’5”), 16 (6’3” and still growing) and 22 (6’3”) and my perfect little doll 11yr olds). Can’t go into the grocery store without spending a hundred bucks at any given day.

I don’t even want to guess on a total. Yes, I piss away cash.

Yes, I piss away cash.

but if its for food ITS WORTH IT!!!!!!

What ever I buy is worth it. It’s only money.

Today’s lunch cost me 32 bucks. Good healthy food that put a smile on my face and filled my belly. Worth every penny.

Never put off what you want today unless you have a guarantee you’ll be here for it tomorrow.

And in life there are no guarantees.
