View Full Version : How do you survive the weekends??

It's a warm sunny day and my friends are knocking around asking me to go for a drink. I said no because of the calories but I am so tempted as I am stuck in bored as hell. The problem is there is supposedly 250 calories in a pint of beer and once I have had one or two it usually carries on to like 5/6 maybe even more. I guess this is the pain before the pleasure eh?

you stay sober when m8s are getting drunk often?? I don't find it very fun tbh as they become annoying unless you are drunk too.

I don't see the problem. Get drunk and have fun.

If you want something badly enough, you will do what it takes.

If you don't, you will find an excuse.

I'd go out and have a drink or two...whenever I do I just make sure it fits into my calories for the day or make up for it the next day

and every so often when I get drunk, I just don't worry about it

I go to Arizona State Univ, so drinking/paryting is sort of like a way of life, and both of my roomates are alchys. The best thing to do is be designated driver when you go out.
A) Your friends will probally buy you dinner.
B) All your friends are getting home safely.
Then just pick out a day like a week in advance and drink on that day, and get HAMMERED, so you don't have the desire to drink for a week or so. Seems to be working fairly well for me.

eh, Arnold drank beer all the time.

Order a glass of water with every beer you drink. Unless you have a competition coming up and few beers aren't going to break you.

Self control. I went about 18 months without having any alcohol and went out with my friends all the time.

Interesting. Not sure if I completely buy it, but interesting. Looks like I have another excuse to drink Spotted Cow. For those of you who haven't heard of it, move to Wisconsin. Totally worth it. :alcoholic

if you are interested in keeping your caloric intake low, guiness and amstel are the best quality beers to drink with the lowest caloric value/per serving.

also you will not look like a loser ordering them, as opposed to 'can i have a mic ultra please.'

one or two drinks a week will not ruin your diet, even if you are on a cut...portion control.

I understand your hesitance to just go out and have a good time, but unless you're on a hard cut just go out and do what you want. If it's justification you need, do a couple of extra days of HIIT during the week. Or do what I do, I justify it by walking to the bar. Saves gas, eliminates the risk of DUI, and burns off at least a few of the calories.

A lot of bars I go to will give you free sodas if you're the DD. I guess it defeats the purpose of not drinking on a cut.

Also, beer isn't that bad for you. It does contain vitamin E and B6. Plus it provides other health benefits. I know this website isn't the best for medicial related information, but it's the best I can do at night (so don't pick on me for not using a grade A source): http://www.askmen.com/sports/foodcourt/45_eating_well.html.

Come to where the grass is greener
Become a powerlifter, you won't have to eat cleaner
Bodybuilders might be leaner
But we're stronger, and have bigger wieners!

I think I read once that Arnold would sometimes down a picture of beer and eat a whole chicked after he worked out!!

Not even Christmas or New Years' ? That's not self-control, that's paranoid.

...couldn't have said it better myself. You don't have to ruin your entire lifestyle to have an impressive body.

Unless you're an alcoholic and don't want to touch it ever again.

It was easy because I really don't enjoy drinking/being drunk. I had a margarita when I was in Vegas back in March. I think that is all the drinking I've done this year. It has nothing to do with dieting, or being strict, I just have more fun being sober. This also has nothing to due with being in Utah where most people are brain washed into thinking alcohol is the tool of the devil.

Well, I take back what I said. You've got a good point there. There's nothing wrong with not liking alcohol, in fact that's an advantage in many ways.

I used to drink..........until about august last year.....I didn't drink alot maybe once every 2/3 weeks or so. When I did drink i DRANK...I like whiskey...Jim Bean/evan williams....my favorite. I went to the doc and got some blood work done becuase I was feeling a little weird all the time. It came back and this was after not drinking for a week and I had almost no free testosterone. The doc says that drinking really lowers your testosterone and thought this was causing me to fill malaise and just bummed all the time. He offered to give me some testosterone pills but said he was pretty sure that it would go back to normal if I stopped drinking. He also offered me a shot that they give to alcoholics to make them quit drinking LOL. I told him I wasn't an alcoholic just like to get f****ed up! I quit drinking except for maybe a few beers every once in awhile and went back and got some blood work done about a month ago and my testosterone levels were back to normal.
