Hello,

I'm a rugby player looking for a great off-season conditioning program. I'm looking to be able to sprint and jog at intervals for a whole 40 minutes. I'm trying to figure out what my specific heart rate goal should be to the point where I can be a completely effective player for the 40 minutes. Does anyone know how to setup a conditioning program that will allow me to monitor heart rate as my progress eg. what should my heart rate be at if I am in excellent rugby shape (sprint/jog shape for 40 minutes). I know this is broad but any suggestions would help

Throw in some sandbag training with all that running - you'll be astonished a the physical conditioning/endurance required to carry a 50 or 100 lb bag up a few hills.

Listen to anthony. I just started using crossfit this week and I love it. It is a perfect mold for a rugby player. Check out crossfit's website and see what you think.
