I can't wear a weight vest? I can't do more reps? I can't remove the kip? There are plenty of ways to make these more difficult and make "gains" ...

Seeing that video reminds me how much mine sucks. Small town :(

Great job guys!

I'm terrified to do that. I tried it once before at the beaches after eating samosa. When i got up, my hand slipped off the ring from the samosa grease and my whole arm got caught and ended up looking like an idiot.

Damn, I really want to try those. Do you still do them on the chip up bar?

Nice work. Anthony you look a lot heavier than 180. I'm 165 and I only look half as big.

Anthony, to do those you just bring your own rings to the gym with you and then tie them about a chin-up bar, or does the gym happen to have a set?

HILL

Awesome, both of you. Are ring muscle ups any easier than a straight bar?

Have you tried them? How many can you do? They're tough enough by themselves, I know. I can do 2Xbw dips, and pullups with BW+120lbs, but I can't do a muscleup yet.

I've never tried them but I would imagine the rings are a bit more difficult because you need to stabilize yourself more.

That was very impressive BTW!

Thanks everyone! We bought our rings from www.ringtraining.com. As for the comment about the "cool gym" ... just because it's dirty and old doesn't mean it's cool. Almost every bar is bent, no true olympic bars (with whip and rotation), dumbbells are falling apart, one chinup bar, etc, etc.

I find muscleups on bar or rings to be similar ... minor differences in difficulty on chinup/transition/dip, but overall it's not that big of a deal.

Wow, you've come a long way. I remember the first muscleup video you posted where you could barely get one rep. Nice work man.

I tried to do one on a reg. pullup bar today and just about broke my wrist

any tips or advice on how to do em?

WestsideWarrior

Anthony - great job, grats on the PR

KingWilder - If you notice, whens he's down, his plams are inward, about half way up, he turns his wrist in, dip, then up. That seems hard as hell on a bar.

Great work on those!! Your gf is crazy strong too!!

I've never used rings before when doing these and have only done them on a straight pull up bar. Seems like it would be a lot less awkward to do with the rings...

Seems like it would be a lot less awkward to do with the rings...My man redFury just did 5 or 6 in a row yesterday at the gym. Very impressive. I tried it too, after him, and could not come close (granted I had deadlifted and snatched beforehand). I'm wondering about how many pullups you need to be able to do before doing a muscleup is feasible?

Anthony
05-18-2007, 10:53 AM
That's awesome! But guido - no excuses! My 8 reps were done after 495x5 on deadlifts. :p

They say 15 chinups + 15 dips and you have the strength to do a muscleup. From there it's just learning the technique.
