- Don't lose any muscle mass/don't lose weight on lifts
- Drink 15 cups of water a day

North

I'm going to start putting my numbers down on here so you guys can see my progress, i'm sure you guys care a lot. But anyways I need to get my diet in check, no more drinking till school is out. I will lift later today and post numbers.

Nice bench and squats, and in the same day. I have yet to try OH squats.

North
05-09-2007, 12:36 PM
Man they kick your ass. Im thinking about putting in a different kind of squat now because it seems like the racks and the OH might be over working my lower back

North
05-09-2007, 05:06 PM
Man, I suck at cutting, how do you guys do it?:bang:
I've gained a lb. since starting my cut. Im going to keep working on it.

North
05-10-2007, 06:04 PM
I had a pretty good day today, I didn't track my cals because I had no motivation and i've been pretty bumbed about school and stuff, but tomorrow i'm lifting and getting back on track.

Goals for tomorrow:

3100 cals
200 g protein
Bench 245x3 <--- would be new 3RM

North
05-12-2007, 01:10 PM
well I didn't lift because I painted all day and then I drank a **** load, man I suck at cutting. I hope to lift later today when I can actually wake up.

North

i've been kinda sick today and yesterday, don't feel all that bad but I just threw up and don't really have any energy. Hopefully tomorrow I can get back at it.

Goals for tomorrow

I feel your pain with the booze... but you're going to have to cut back significantly if you want to cut correctly. Unless you drop out most other carbs and leave some room for it.

Best of luck, and keep up the journal.

North
05-17-2007, 02:33 PM
ya i know, its helped me stop smoke weed, but atleast with weed the only extra calories I had was with the muchies. Thanks for posting.

North
05-17-2007, 03:43 PM
ok so i did get a light workout in today, nothing to do with my normal routine and not at 100% but it was a nice little exercise.

DL - 205 3x8
C&J - 135x3 185x1

I was happy with the C&J 185x1 because I didn't think it would be that easy, especially after doing deads and being sick.

North
05-20-2007, 03:07 PM
another light day, i've been sick and its time for a light week anyways

squat 185x20
speed CGBP - 135x6, 185x3, 185x2

North
05-21-2007, 10:06 AM
Man, this cut is a total failure so far. I am going to get back on it right now:

Weight: 203
aiming for 3000 cals a day
-200 g protien
-100 g fat

North
05-24-2007, 12:21 AM
I'm feeling a lot better today.

Chin ups
4x5
hanging leg raises
3x5

I liked the leg raises for a core workout, my first time ever doing them. This friday i'm hitting the weights hard again though.

North
05-24-2007, 03:45 PM
Man my abs are sore as hell from those leg raises ^^^ I think I'll do them for ab work until I can get my whole body straight up and down. I've always been amazed at those videos where people do that crazy ****.

Just stopped by to check your journal out, I see lots of compound lifts in here. Few questions why are you cutting, you're at a decent weight, why not throw on some serious mass and see where it takes you? I saw your question about chalk when you do your rack pulls. A few of my friends said they think the chalk actually causes more tear than no chalk because of the strength it gives your grip. My calisus (don't know about spelling) which is basically my whole hand don't rip, so the chalk is great for me.

North
05-25-2007, 03:09 PM
thanks for stopping, and ya, i just thought today, why am i cutting? I don't care if i am a little overweight, and i have no drive to be skinny. so i'm going back to a slow bulk. Thanks for posting killa hurt.

oh and I was suprised because my hand has been calised over for like 6-7 years now, even before I lifted weights because of drumming. It was the rack pulls that were doing it, oh well I'll live with it.

Probably doing more weight on rack pulls than regular deadlifts right?

Thanks, I mostly play metal and rock but I love to play everything including raggae, swing, and funk. My drumset is just a P.O.S. sunlite but I just got a 13x6.5 mapex black panther last week! I got mostly sabian and a couple stagg and wuhan effects cymbals. Well and a Stagg ride, that thing is sick. What do you play?

Ok so awhile ago I convinced my girlfriend to lift with me, and she's gonna start tomorrow. I thought I'd start here off with a simple 3 day split. So here's what it's going to be. I would love to start her on BGB but I just don't think she'd stick with 4 days a week for very long, we'll see after awhile.
Day 1:
Lunges 3x8
Bench 3x8
Pull ups 3x(amount)

Day 2: Pull
RDL 3x8
military 3x8
BB Rows 3x8

Day 3:
Squats 3x8
Dips 3x(amount)
Curls 3x8

Nice and simple, i'm thinking the 3x8 scheme will work good to get used to the exercises, does this sound like a good plan?

RedSpikeyThing

nice workout man, some solid squats and benching

That routine for the g/f looks good. Just remember that she probably won't be able to do any pullups, so she'll either have to do negatives or do the assisted ones. The main thing is that you keep it light at first and don't scare her off. If she really doesn't like a certain exercise, change it and try to keep her coming to the gym.

North
06-17-2007, 11:49 AM
Thanks red. And I know i'll have to help her with the pull ups at first. Anyways I maxed out on Sumo Deads today:
345x1

It went up pretty easy so I threw on a 10 and tried for 365 but I could bearly get it off the ground, should've tried 355. Anyways thats a +10 power record on deadlift, my first time every maxing on Sumo deadlift.

If I can get atleast 290 on bench, I'm pretty sure I can. And 365 on squat then I will get my goal of 1000.

On tuesday I will max out for bench.

Thanks, but Its getting really tough to increase the weight every week now.
I took killa's advice and moved my hands out a bit on bench, actually a lot. Its about 1/2 inch before the ring.

Bench:
135x5
165x5
190x5
190x5
250+25x3 <--- 5 on monday is going to be tough
190+10x8

BB Row
65x5

105x8

Squat:
135x5
175x5
205x5
205x5
310x3
205x8

PWO shake:
1 cup milk
1 scoop of whey
1 packet of oatmeal
1 Benefit bar

Yesterday's calories were 3750, its tough to keep these down and I know today is going to be tough too, I'm going to buffalo wild wings tonight

Everyone is geared differently with their grip. Me personally on my pushes, I try to make sure the corner of my arm is at a 90 degree angle, maybe a LIL less.

Bench max out day

275x1 PR+5
285x1 PR+15
300x1 PR+30!

My lockout strength was really good, after working with this wider grip for a bit longer I bet my bench will go up a lot more. That was a raise in my bench 30 lbs in the last two months. All that I need now is 355 on squats and i'll reach 1000. I'll do that on friday, hoping for atleast 375.

North
06-27-2007, 05:08 PM
Thanks guys, I guess I won't be doing that program till we come back because we're leaving in a week instead of two weeks. but its going to be like this.

Mon, wed, fri

Morning:
- back squats 5x4-6
- SLDL 5x4-6
- Pull ups palms out 5 sets
- dips 5 sets

Evening:

- Sumo deads 10x3
- Bench 5x6-8
- Rows 5x6-8

Tue, thur, sat morning

- Front squats 5x4-6
- good mornings 5x4-6
- Incline press 5x4-6
- Pull ups (hands facing) 5 sets

The point is to over train a **** load and then rest a week and come back stronger.

Damn man... 2-a-days will be the death of you. Over-reaching is definitely the **** though. Note, not overtraining, over-reaching because it's planned and controlled. Listen to your body man. If you have a couple crap workouts in a row (not due to lack of sleep, poor diet, etc.) take a few days off. I wouldn't be surprised if you end up following this program for a week and a half then taking 2-3 days then getting back to it.

So I missed my workout today, actually i'm about to go drink lol. But tomorrow I will go back at it. Today was graduation (summerschool) and I got some money so i'm gonna go buy a cymbal tomorrow, probably a 17-19" Zildjian K/K custom crash. I've been dieing to get one of those since I started playing drums.

Thanks cocoa, and playing the drums is already a big passion for me, I ended up getting an 18" sabian vault crash instead of the Zildjian.

Anyways I tried two different lifts that i've never tried before. Snatch and push press.

Snatch
95x3
115 4x3 - weight was light to practice form

Push press
115x3
135x2
165x2
185x1
205x1
225xmiss

Edit: Here's a little clip of me drumming, the crash I just bought is on my left hand side (sorry you can't really see it) It's the first one I hit

Coke - thanks, i'm going to be pissed if I didn't gain anything, it would be a lot of work down the drain

Redfurry-thanks, but its the pull ups that are killing me, i'm not used to doing them everyday and my lats couldn't take it after the second day lol

Today is the first day I'm not sore since I started though, I might take today off I might not i'm not sure yet

I didn't do my night workout because I ate this stuff my mom brought home from La mesa, a mexican restraunt, and it must of had peanuts in it because after I ate a couple of bites my mouth felt numb so I gave the rest to my dog and I felt like **** and puked a couple times. Allergys suck

I have a sticking point thats about 4" above my chest when it transitions from chest to tri's, if I make it above that then I can get it up; but I only got it like 3" off my chest. I think if i'm fully rested I can get it though. Next thursday I'm going to try again after a week off.

maybe try some heavy tricep work or rack presses to break through that. you'll have it soon either way. Nice workout either way.

i have the same problem with the sticking point at the top of the press...the solution is strengthen triceps...i threw out cable flies and lateral raises and im gonna add in more extensions, dips, rack lockouts...

North
07-23-2007, 11:42 PM
I would say its my chest and not tri's, its the point to right before the tri's start to take over. If I get more speed at the bottom of the lift I think I got it. Thanks for your guys help and comments.

Everything 4x5

North
07-31-2007, 01:11 PM
I'm just trying to float around at about 3000 cals now just to get used to not eating so much, then after I see how much I lose/gain i'll go from there. I hope this cut is more successful than the last two that just ended up as bulks.

http://www.mediafire.com/?9dxttmvcefc

Today I maxed out on bench, I didn't get a new PR. It wasn't really a max out as it was another go at 315 which I failed badly. I guess 315 is going to have to wait till after the cut.

So after a little of well needed slacking i got back at it. I'm doing good on my cut so far, 3 days of around 2700 cals but I went downstairs and started benching and hurt my wrist on my last working set. So I thought o well i'll just move on to Rows and I did some light weight warm ups and it felt fine, but i put some more weight on and it hurt pretty badly so I called it a day. I don't think its injured but I didn't want to risk it especially since i'll need my wrists later on down the road:p

But anyways here was today's short workout

Bench:
255x5
255x5
255x5 --> this is where my wrist felt weird
255x2 --> the weight wasn't too heavy but my wrist was killing with that weight

some light rows

I think i'm going to go invest in some wrist wraps

No, I did that when I was bulking, now i'm cutting and doing almost the same thing but a little different.

Pullups 3x5
Military 3x5

B: Deadlift 1x5 Alternating with RDL 3x5

A late night workout tonight, It went pretty well but my thumb was acting up again on my right hand so I lowed the weight a little bit for bench, but rows and squat went up.
