I need to get some bars to eat throughout the day inbetween meals, I am trying to put some more muscle weight on. I lift about 4 times a week, I'm 26 years old, 6'2", 185lbs. I have had Balance Bars (okay..), Detour bars (very good and tasty), Pure Protein bars (not that good tasting), Powerbars (not that great tasting either).
Anybody recommend good bars?

Most bars are just over priced, sugar filled, bad tasting candy bars. Make a shake or some homemade bars.

The homemade bars listed under the thread title, "amazing protein bars" are easy to make, taste great, and have lots of protein and calories.
As far as the kind you buy....my favorite have been Amino Vital & Zone Bars. The Amino Vitals seem to be hard to find though.

Got a link to the ingredients?
I looked but couldn't find it. Most bars are loaded with synthetic garbage.
I made my first batch yesterday with brown rice syrup, they are insanely good.

Muscle Milk, Precision Engineered
I started taking papaya which seemed to help but the bars are easier to carry around and have no ill effects on me.

Muscle Milk turns my innards into nuclear warfare. It tastes great, but my stomach instantly starts hurting minutes after drinking that stuff. The RTDs are even worse.

Ok, I'm glad to see that I'm not alone. I tried muscle milk last week for the first time....I painted the sink white.

Yeah...I'll never drink that stuff again. SERIOUSLY nasty stomach aches. It literally ruins my stomach for hours.

Honestly, I didn't think it tasted very good.

I think it's too sweet. I only liked it for a short while because it reminded me of cake mix...which I always lick off the spatula when making cake at home, lol. Raw cookie dough is also awesome (mmm...chocolate chip).

Yeah, it was too sweet. I just drink Met-Rx MRP now. It is honestly the only thing I can actually stomach. Plus, it tastes like pudding, but not so sweet.

Thats not very many. You may need to try a few more until you find one you like. You may also want to try a pure isolate, and allways take them with/around solid food. Shakes are much better for your long term health than bars.
