Do any of you eat it? Ive been eating mangos lately skin included. It seems everyone I talk to at work doesn't eat the skin and I just read on google it can be like poison ivy.
I eat half a mango at a time and I've had no problems with digestion can I keep eating the skin?

i grew up on mangoes as well, and we never ate the skin.

some fruits take some work to get to and mangoes are worth it.

If you want a heavenly fruit, that takes effort see Custard Apples.

Just an FYI

In many American societies people enjoy eating the skin of the mango which happens to be rich in calcium, and vitamin B6.

That being said, I can't stand American Mangos because I grew up picking them right off the tree.

Also you only have to worry about the skin if you're allergic to poison ivy.

What constitutes american mangos?Like which varieties?

All the mangos we get from texas are from mexico. Of the mexican varieties ataulfo (yellow), followed by Kent (red) are the top 2. Then Hayden if i have no choice. I hate tommy atkins, too stringy for my liking.

Phillipino mangos are good. They are like the ataulfo except bigger.

If only, they would start importing the king of mangos aka Alphonso from India, then life would be grand.

I do remember reading after US-India signed their nuclear deal, one of the trailers of the bill was that US was going to start allowing the import of indian mangoes, as Bush loved them while he was there.

Nothing beats the tropical fruits.
