The gas pains are horrible, farting every 2 minutes sucks, and the smell of the farts are absolutely terrible. How on earth do you guys(and gals) take whey protein for a long period of time? I'm sure someone will say, "just deal with it pussy". Deal with smelling like ass all the time?

Switch brands.

Are you mixing it with milk or water?

yeah, seriously what brand are you taking?

I never had problems with ON or Nitrean

Get a better product. Try Nitrean, you will most likely not experience the problems you are describing.

I use ON. I put a scoop and a half in my weightgain shakes(milk, oats, PB, olive oil) and drink 2 a day.

Well, I guess when I run out and I'll switch.

I just did a search on the forums and apparently gas from whey protein is quite common. I didn't know that. In this thread though, it would seem like I'm the only one that gets gas?

I don't even take shakes anymore. I'm sick of it, for a while at least. I just eat foods high in protein. As long as I'm around 200g of protein/day, I'm fine.

Well, my weightgain shakes have helped me a lot. Taking them without the whey would taste nasty as hell.

you kinda just have to deal with it. switch up flavors, use quality protein, and you won't think anything of it soon.

I thought ON was one of the top, high quality brands? If ON is giving me gas, wouldn't a different, lower quality brand be worse?

Are you mixing it with milk? If so, try water. I'm lactose intolerant and if I have ANYTHING in milk i'm practically ****ting on myself until my system breaks it down.

It makes me fart too. I use soy protein mostly, mixed with water, and have no problems with it. If I throw in a whey shake, I'll be pootin'

I've been using 10 scoops of whey a day for a long time with no issues. Never had issues with Nitrean either. Maybe it's something else in your diet.

it may be the whey for you.

But did no one else question that the home made shakes with no serving size listed may be causing the problem?

You are confusing popularity with quality. ON makes a decent product that tastes good. Nitrean is a clearly superior product in all respects. Try it and tell everyone here what you think.

That's what I'm thinking. Maybe drinking the whey in my shakes instead of just on its own is doing it? I use to take the whey just with water and I don't really recall it causing me gas.

For my shakes, it's a scoop and a half of ON whey, 1TBSP of Olive Oil, 3 TBSP Peanut Butter, 2 cups milk, and a half cups of oats. A little over 1,000 calories. Maybe the whey combined with these ingredients is doing it?

I was thinking about it, is there any sense to even put whey protein in these shakes I make? Should I just get a cheap weightgainer powder and throw a scoop of that in them or would that be worse? Then I'd only take whey after a workout. I'd kill two birds with one stone, my homemade weightgain shakes would have even more calories and I wouldn't have bad, horrible, terrible smelling gas.

I get the same problem. Just with the shakes too, whey bars don't bother me. I want to try switching to Nitrean, but don't want to spend 30 bucks on something that might not work.

It's worth it to try Nitrean. I get gas from a lot of things, but not from that.

Ok, I'm going to get Nitrean.

Now onto my other question, should you put whey protein in homemade weightgain shakes or should you put a scoop of weightgain powder? Which would be better? I know you should take whey after a workout, should I only take it then?

You could also try a digestive enzyme supplement like Now Super Enzymes. I personally haven't tried it yet, but its on my next purchase.

why would we do that? I have no problems with digesting my protein intake.

I know this thread is way old and you've probably solved your problem by now, but I've found that with Milk, the protein drinks or shakes give me horrilbe gas. With water, there's no problem. The milk is the culprit.

To answer the title of the thread, they don't buy **** products to save a few dollars. They use the best, like Nitrean, and they don't have those problems unless they are severely lactose intolerant.

Get the best or suffer the smelly consequences...
