whey protein is fast digesting and gets into your system quicker. the protein in muscle milk is called casein and is a slower digesting protein. better over night when your body has plenty of time to use it.

yup
however, it's best to take whey asap after a workout...so if you can take it sooner than 40 mins after, go for it

The FACT, not the commonly accepted myth, is that it is better to use a correct blend of varying absorption rates proteins than a whey-only product at ALL times.

I believe that even built disagrees with that chris. Post workout that is.
Then Built would be wrong.

umm...Chris is right guys
a protein blend IS more effective postworkout and in general
you think right after you workout you ONLY need protein to go to your muscles and begin repairs right away? What about if your next meal isn't for 1-2 hours (or more)...having a protein complex that absorbs over a period of time, instead of all at once just makes more sense.

Sorry, i just got my warning message of being kicked. I'm not trying to be an ass. I just didn't realize that their was scientific studies that post work out that whey was inferior to a complex. immediate post work out. I have been wrong before :)

It wasn't I that warned you. I am done with that. The next time you piss me off I will just ban you.

I don't even bother with a shake post workout most of the time. I'm cutting, and I generally prefer to chew what little food I get to eat.
There's good evidence that you're better off with fast and slow protein post workout, rather than just whey. Leave off the fat, though - keep that for some other time. So for post workout, dextrose for the insulin response, and a blend of fast and really fast protein works well. Dex and whey in milk can work, dex and cottage cheese blended into a whey shake, or just toss dex and Nitrean into a shaker cup and be done with it.

now back to the main subject, i'd like to note that muscle milk is bad for you in the long run. check out this article and you will change your mind about ever taking muscle milk again.

Just because of the way I cut I tend to have a preworkout shake/during and post workout shake aswell. There are lots of carbs around here!

So I have a question. When should I work whey protein into my day if MM tells you to take it Before lifting, After Lifting, and before bed?

Milk is 80% casein and 20% whey.
A natural blend ;)

If it were 80% whey, then there wouldn't have been the discussion about why people drink MM at night. Pays to read at least the first few posts in a thread ;)
