Is chick pea dahl good for you? just having it now with brown rice.
also is it better than baked beans? its has less sugar thats all i know.

It all depends on your macros and how it all fits in. If cutting watching out for the carb content of dal and rice.

But in general, legumes (dals,beans,pulses) are a nutrient rich food.

Samj, if you dont mind me asking, what ethnicity are you?

I wasnt asking because of the punctuation, but mainly because of the question regarding chick pea dal.

I thought dal was made of lentils? I like dipping naan in it at Indian restaurants.

o ye i dont know why it was in the cupboard its just in a tin.
the ingredients are:
water,chick peas(28%) lentils(9%) onion(5%) tomato puree(2%) vegatable oil, modified maize, starch, sugar, salt, cumin, turmeric, coriander, fenugreek leaves, caraway, chilli

all in all not to shabby

dal comes from splitting a bean, for instance mung dal from a mung bean.

Good stuff... Just make sure you fit it into your macros since it is typically high in calories (Like most legumes).

I like using dals and hummus and stuff as a sticky spread for sandwiches instead of butter or mayo. Goes great with roast turkey or chicken since poultry doesn't have an overpowering taste to it. A little brown mustard... Yum.
