View Full Version : What's a realistic time frame for putting on 30 pounds?

I'm around 195 right now. I'm interested in getting up to 225. Any opinions are appreciated...

Well I had hoped for by the end of the year... but I honestly have no idea whether that is too lengthy or too short of a time period. I realize a lot of it is up to my motivation... but I don't want to overachieve and put it on too quick or go too slow because I'm setting a limit on myself when it could be achieved earlier. If you know what I mean..

30lbs total? Then I would say 35 weeks with a nice clean,slow bulk.

30lbs of lbm. Thats a multi year proposition.

It depends on your goals. If you just want to gain 30 lbs by any means possible, I would say eat a ton of food, lift heavy and it should take you a few months. Definitely possible to get up to 225 by the end of this year.

It took me about 4 months to gain 30lbs, then about 8 months to gain another 30.

I'd say about 30 weeks. That's one lb per week and that's assuming you can gain that much weight per week.

How long have you been training? That has a lot to do with it, too.

well im not a fan of gaining fat while bulking rather take it slow or cheat :p

It depends how long you been lifting. I gained like 40 pounds in no time really, but it has basically slowed down since. If you haven't lifted before it could be quicker. A lot of experience than probably 30-40 weeks.

eh I've probably been lifting since I was 19... 23 now. I started at around 135 and I'm up to around 195 right now... so I imagine putting on 30 pounds will take the time you mentioned. thanks for the opinions.

I still vote for nice and slow with minimal fat gains. Shoot for 40 weeks. It will take more discipline but it will be better than be a fat lard at the end and wondering what the hell has all this hard work been for. Try not to get over 15% bf.
