View Full Version : Which Supplement company do you trust?

Marcel

With all this talk about supplement companies making false claims and not dosing their supplements properly...which supplement company do you trust the most? Which supplement company have you had no problems with?

I can just see the supplement companies saying something like "***** them(customers) if we fill this protein tub with half-protein and half filler...they wont find out!" Seriously though who has sent a tub of protein out to get it tested to see if in fact there is 22 g protein or watever the clain on the jug may be per scoop? i DONT THINK I can truly trust any companies anymore.

Time to go cook some chicken and steak. Laterz.

actually supp brands?

jarrow, and MRM.

Avant Labs and Ergopharm. That's about it.

Half the supplements I take are probably powdered seaweed for all I know. Supplement companies are some of the most dishonest/shady entities on this planet. They make Enron look reputable.

Yea which supplement company do you trust most?

I like the vitamin shoppe brand products, because they claim that their products are ultra pure ( yeah, I know ) and their labels usually have more information about the contents than most other brands. Also because they are a vertical intergrated company, I think they have more to lose if they put out a bad product than the other supps companies.

I trust these guys...

ProLab
Labrada
Optimum Nutrition
EAS
Beverly International

Those are the main ones that I would buy from. I really only purchase stuff from the first two due to money issues though. ;)

Personally, I don't really trust either of these companies, but they each have a product or two that looks good enough on paper that I use them(VPX is probably the shadier of the two.) The products I've tried from them *seem* to be fine.

I agree with these 2 - and also would add:

Protein Factory (I have no complaints and use their recovery formula as well as a combination fast/slow protein mix)

Met RX. All their products seem very carefully thought through and stand up to scientific scrutiny.

For example the website thefactsaboutfitness.com recently posted reults showing that the rate of protein synthesis with Met RX protein was greater than a whey protein tested.

In fact I would distrust any manufacturer that says that whey is the answer to all your protein needs, it's just the best workout protein to use immediatly before or after a workout.

I've been using PROSOURCE'S, NITROWHEY, GLUTAMINE AND CREATINE, it's great tasting, good price and excellent results!

Question too, anyone use Cytodyne's Methoxy-Pro protein? I just bought a container, using it now. ;)

i used to take casilia-90, i took for 2 days met-RX , now i am taking Tropicana products. I think they r good & i did some good improvments with tropicana. Does anyone take or took Tropicana products?

D&G

I use Tropicana egg white powder as its pretty cheap - not sure about their other stuff - the start-up thing is nice though.

I would put Labrada as the No.1 company lab assays on their products are available on request and you know that Lee Labrada actually runs the company day to day rather than it being a big faceless organisation.

Personally, I like Universal. They're the only company who's ever took the time to answer all my product and nutrition questions. When I call, I get a live trainer. Most companies I've dealt with don't. I once had to return a product because I didn't like the taste, and they gave me a refund, no problem, even though I used 2/3 of it. Best of all, at http://animalpak.com/Enter/main.html, they have a section where you can ask any question and they get you a personalized response in 48 hours. Cool.

I am going to start by naming all the supp companies I hate
starting with the ones I hate the most

1-TwinLabs(always crap)
2-MuscleTech(over priced sugar products)
3-GNC(medium grade, top price)
4-Bio-Test(over inflated ego's/products work or dont work at all)

The companies I trust

1-Prolab
2-Universal
3-EAS(even though Bill Philips is a HOMO)
4-Cytodyne

why then do you have t-mag listed as your website? You do understand that t-mag = biotest, right?

Guess where biotest learned how to market? Hint: the initials are EAS.

oldschoolboy
09-25-2002, 01:47 PM
Paul Stagg is right... EAS is the masters (or at least was, when Bill was still there) of marketing. Biotest/T-Mag....
STill, it's hard to knock his choices...

duque21

Paul......I know that t-mag and bio-test are one, And if you ever heard me talk about t-mag, I read it for the fun of it. I just think its interesting. They have some intertaining articles. And yes I know all the history behind EAS and Bio-Test. Bill Roberts used to be one of there chemist for EAS and now owns Bio-Test

Paul Stagg
09-25-2002, 02:57 PM
I see.

TC was the editor in chief of Muscle Media, EAS' marketing publication...er, I mean the EAS owned muscle rag. (Much like Testosterone.com is the marketing publication owned by Biotest)

Biotest marketing mimics EAS' remarkably - testimonials from employees of the company, comparisions to drugs (HMB feels like deca, Androspray feels like sust), etc. It's obvious they learned from the master, Bill Phillips.

I don't think Bill Roberts worked for EAS, and I don't know that he has an ownership stake in Biotest.

Nice try, though.

Creatine
EAS has always worked well for me, but prolab and weider I lost strength. Now looking for others, as EAS quit making that verision of pure creatine powder. I think I tried muscle tech 6000 creatine with good results, same with cell tech.

What the hell happen to Bill Philips? He's not the CEO anymore, since when? Bill Philips is cool. He knows his shyt and yeah he's a marketing genius, you can't argue with that he's just wants a piece of the pie.

EAS products are awesome.

What do have to lose,... $19? I have tried many things and some work some don't for $19 dollars I would get some, it's not like it's going to take muscle away.

So many companies try to sell us crap it's hard to go with just one. With Twinlab you know you're getting what's on the label, but they're hardly innovative. Cytodyne is popular, but when they try to sell you crap like Myoblast and Methoxy Pro how can you trust them? EAS pushes some stuff that sounds pretty shady and Prolab will jump on the bandwagon the first chance they get. Biotest's Mag 10 is good stuff, but I know that myostat stuff is crap. AST Sports Science is the only one that I feel doesn't try to push a bunch of crap.

I use EAS, Optimum Nutrition, Labrada, Next Proteins. I usually buy my supplements online cause they're a lot cheaper and I have them delivered to my door in less than a week.
