View Full Version : Folic acid, best food sources?

My gf has borderline anemia due to B12/folate deficiency. The deficiency is partly because of a medication she has to take which hinders absorption. In addition to being more regular about taking a multi, I was wondering which healthy foods are highest in these nutrients, so we can incorporate more of them into her diet. I do all of the cooking anyway (since I'm always eating), so it would be easy for me to add more of these foods. I know beef is high in B12, so I'll probably buy more lean beef. What else?

Leaf vegetables such as spinach and turnip greens, dried beans and peas, fortified cereal products, sunflower seeds and certain other fruits and vegetables are rich sources of folate, as is liver. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Folic_acid)
I know it's not a food, but it's a supplement that's set up for people that don't have the best absorption capability.
