Don't think I've ever posted a picture thread. I have always preferred to post them as journal entries so they have some context, but here are a few from a month or so ago (which I posted in my journal at the time) for the few who might be interested and possibly missed them. Meh.

It's hard for me to quantify the differences as I don't measure stats regularly (i.e. arm size, etc), nor have I had a bf% test in a long time. My weight and bodyfat % are probably not all that different.

I'm probably slightly leaner at the same weight (205lbs). So, a bit less fat, and a bit more muscle. Probably most of it was added in my shoulders, arms and back. My chest and legs are genetic strong points and I don't focus on them much (they still outpace everything else). My arms and shoulders were very noticeable weaknesses starting out. Since they're smaller muscles, I think the fact I've put more energy into them (always do them first in workouts, bit more volume/frequency, etc) the difference in photos like this is a bit more dramatic than what my stats might indicate.

I've always wanted to look like Arnold and I was actually pretty happy with the first photo as it has a bit of that look IMO.

Ha. It's the gym bathroom actually and the only place with a mirror without the chance of accidentally taking others' photo while they were changing.

Thanks for the compliments.

Lots more people checked this out than I expected. Thanks to all for the compliments. I appreciate them. Feel free to point out weaknesses too. Definitely pretty soft here for one (I'm guessing 13-15% bf).

Entire upper body looking enormous- great arms, shoulders, and chest. Despite having a tiny bad of flab on the gut, the upper body dwarfs it and gives you awesome looking proportions.

Great job thus far.

Since I have not really been keeping a journal, I decided I might as well post this pic I snapped a few minutes ago. I need to first state that the previous pics were after a workout, with a pump, and with full muscle glycogen. This is in the evening, after 2 days of UD2 depletion. Actually, I'm starting to be reasonably happy with my level of leannness; I look much better (in person) than when I snapped the last set of pics. This pic makes me look kinda small for the aformentioned reasons, though. Probably around 196-198 (my scale broke):

Why do you have 10 journals?
Well, I've been on WBB since 2002. I've tended to start new journals when I took a hiatus from keeping an online one and/or I changed my routine or diet significantly. I dunno if it's actually 10, but I've definitely had more than a few.

Nothing to compete with Monstar, of course.

I must have body dysmorphia or something, because while I think I have a decent physique (I've worked pretty hard for it), I don't think it's anything out of the ordinary--on WBB or at any gym where I've been a member. Maybe it's a little bit better than average. My legs do stand out, I'll admit.

Thanks to everyone for the compliments, though. Definitely put a smile on my face.

Soap opera hair? You mean the bushy hair in the first set of pics? I call that 'working 60 hours a week' hair. I'm glad to have any, to be honest. That's the biggest reason I'll probably never use. It's already receding a bit, as Shark so kindly pointed out on the picture of me with Gunter Schlierkamp that I have on my MySpace. I am 29, though. Maybe I can hold onto it for a few more years.

Yup, LA Fitness in Bellevue. I don't care much for it, but it's about 500 feet from my office. I liked Lifetime (and Gold's) back in Michigan much better. But on the upside, my company pays me a subsidy to go which basically means it's free.

Thanks for the compliments. I think I'm starting to look decent again. I still want more, but 9 years into this game it's tough to make drastic changes.

I don't actually use anything at the gym but the weights and the cardio equipment. Lifetime had a huge olympic pool with a two story waterslide, basketball courts, 2 story rock climbing wall, whirlpools, etc. Never used any of it in over 3 years. Ha.

Ha. Yeah, at least my upper body is more proportionate than when I started.

I dunno. When I stand up totally straight (I'm pretty much upright there), I think it makes me look less dense and I lose what little ab definition I have. But perhaps I will give it a shot the next time I take a pic.

If you're referring to the comments above, I don't agree with them. I dunno who is natural and not natural on the site (or at the gym) and I've given up guessing. You may be at hte top of the natural folks here. My opinion, though is: who the **** cares? I only really compete with myself at this point.

Hope you don't mind me asking what sort of lifts you can do?
I don't mind at all. I'm weak as ****. Well, perhaps stronger than the average gym goer, but certainly not strong by any absolute measure.

Maxes:
Deadlift: 375 x 1 (conventional), 350 x 1 (sumo)
Squat: 325 x 1
Bench: Probalby 225 or so, but really don't bench
Overhead Press: 80lb DBs x 5
Dips: bodyweight + 75 for 1-2 reps

So, pretty ****ty. I've never trained explicitly for strength, rather for hypertrophy.

I had this discussion with RookieBldr during the Arnold, but I think my physique reflects my goals. One could argue it's genetics, etc, whatever and that n=1 means nothing, but I know quite a few powerlifters that don't look all that impressive but can move a lot of weight. I can't move much weight, but for a natural I think I look decent. I sincerely think that's a result of the way in which I've trained.

Some random dude asked me if I was interested in some modeling. After my initial scepticism, I checked out his site, it looked legit and I was like 'Why the **** not?' Not really planning on modeling, though it's almost happened a few times (people have asked or suggested)

Bolded by me: understatement of the year. We all took turns at the Arnold telling you that you look really good and we meant it. Your choice of shirts, too, was superb. You're after having your ego stroked, I know, and it's easy to do because of the above mentioned understatement.

Lol. I'm really not doing the 'self deprecate so people tell me how good I look' thing believe it or not. Understatement is a part of my personality, bodybuilding or otherwise. If I won a million dollars tomorrow my response would be 'That's cool'. I've often been accused of never seeming to have a good time or that I'm hard to read. The statement above was actually my way of saying I thought I looked good...and better than many people who lift a lot more weight than me.

I will never say I look *great* unless I look like Arnold did in the 70s. I often see things in shades of gray. In terms of bodybuilding, though, I have an ideal and anything short of that is mere adequacy. I do honestly think there are many guys at most gyms that look better than me. Conversely, there are a lot of people that I do think I look better than.
