I am thinking plenty of core strengthening obviously. But as far as specific movements in the gym? I was thinking eiither a three day split between pushers, pullers, and legs or othrwise a full body circuit type routine twice a week.
Any ideas?

It all depends on the swimmer, but core work, shoulder stability work, pulling power (as in in the pool, not pulling as in DL pulling power), muscular endurance, range of motion are all paramount to a swimmer's success.
