OK... this is rather depressing to be typing this, but seeing as I've lost 10 lb in the past 2 weeks attempting to bulk (ironic, eh?) I've seemed to get rather lean... I took some pics last night because I was feeling extra... veiny?

I know their not ideal, but it was only me and the camera, so couldn't get very good views. Just want to see my BF % since ive never got an idea before, and this is probably the leanest I've ever been.

Back / Arms (when i was about 8 more lbs) : http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v626/jediman/100_1812.jpg

Sorry for the variety, I know theres not much but I couldn't really take any better ones.

Thank you, any rough estimates appreciated.

9% I'd say.

Neat, thanks Jordan. (nice name btw, mine also)

Is that just a rough estimate or do you have a pretty good idea that its around 9?

I'm pretty confident with it. You cannot just look at your abdominals, you have to take into account you're arms, legs, back etc. Judging from your abdominals and arms alone it looks to be 9%. Anyways, you're pretty lean now so I'd be happy with your body. I would still get some calipers and take a few calculations to be 100%.

But yes. 9%. 10% at most.

Also the shoulder vein did me in. It seems like you hold most of your fat in the legs, which isn't a bad thing.

Cool, thanks Jordan. Much appreciated.

is that a 30/30 lever action rifle in the corner of your leg relaxed pic?

It's actually a Winchester 1886 45/70... they make HUGE.BIG.BAD.BOOM.

Is that red spot on your neck from btn push presses?

Is that red spot on your neck from btn push presses?

Yes it was from doing power press... pretty much same thing as btn pp but more legs. I don't use a pad so I learn to slow the feck down on the way down unlike 95% of the other lifters at my school. They just drop it on their neck and are gonna break their neck one of these days.

And thanks for the estimate... had no idea I'd be so low. (Low for me neways :p)

Yes, those things used to fruk my neck up. I tried to slow them down, but I couldn't .

yeah I'm guessing somewhere between 10 and 11% (closer to 10)

Thanks King.

What do y'all think of my calves? Are they lean, fat, or in-between? Im thinking between the fat and in-between categories but I can see a vein or two if I flex hard now!

I think your calves look like perfectly normal calves, so no, they definitely aren't 'fat'.

I think the better question is why you lost 10 pounds during a bulk. 10 pounds is a lot in only 2 weeks, not to mention in the wrong direction,

jed
07-08-2007, 08:33 PM
Yes, that is a very good question, and I wish I knew the answer. I have been eating as much as I can and it was pretty normal during that two weeks, it was just the first two weeks of summer I guess and I sweat a lot and didn't eat breakfast very much (but I didn't eat breakfast very much before...) so I don't know...

Since those pics I've even got more vascularity (is that a word?) but not really lost strength or muscle... I'm just losing fat. Wich is alright I guess, but I'd still like to weigh more than atleast ONE of our linemen this year!

9% was the first number I thought of.

For the record I'm extremely jealous of your lean-ness. Its exactly what I'm aiming to reach at the end of my cut.

Thanks nhl and keith. Thanks to you, too Jordan :) I'm sure with the way you've worked so far you'll get to where I'm at easy enough! Heck, if I didn't even want to be here hopefully it won't be too hard! :p

I would say 12% most likely just by looking at the abs shot. Plus you are storing a bit more fat in your lower body. You have a very symmetrical physique.

Since we are about the same build, I just ran a simple 3 spot caliper test on myself. It came out at 6. I normally add 3% for error. So maybe around 9-10.

Thanks for all the estimates guys!

And yes Hatred, I lost ~10 on a bulk in 2 weeks.

Agreed, 12% looks more accurate to me. Legs look great, keep it up.

It's individual, but for the overall population, yes. But I think your legs look as lean as the rest of your body.

Jeez... didn't think I was that close. Maybe I'll take advantage of this freakish situation and lose even more fat during football and then train for bodybuilding after the seasons over... Time to think.

LOL, why people make general statements when talking about physique is beyond me. There are powerlifters at 16%+ with better abs showing than Jed. Muscle mass has a huge impact on how BF% shows up, which is why peope like you, meaning less muscled individuals think 9% is abs. 9% on a bodybuilder (person with significant muscle mass) is most likely going to be pretty fully visible abs, and most often clear seperation of most every major muscle group, especially bi's/tri's/delts and within the legs, which are not really prevelent here. I honestly dont mean to be a prick but sometimes ya gotta fight fire with fire, and you seem to have a real know it all attitude. Most everyone else gives their opinion and/or rough estimate and there you are talking in definites, blanketing everyone with what must be. I have been bodpodded and done hydrostatic weighing and was 14.8 and 15.2 respectively. Showing upper abs at that point and clear seperation in quad muscles. People hold their fat very differently which can affect how their "abs show". Try not to talk about everyone like their body follows your made up guidelines.

5% is a tad high. Top level guys get it down to 3-4%, of course that is for only a brief period of time.

That is not true. Especially if you are flexing the abs.

I don't think my abs were that flexed in the pic, just a normal hard stomach pose. (as in what my stomach looks like when i exhale)

Would any other pictures help you guys' figure out my %? Or are those good enough? Y'all seem to know what you're talkin' about just by those few :)

Thanks vapor, smalls, and cphaf. 3-4% is just crazy, even for just those few hours they show-off!!

Why are you so obsessed with getting a number, you are what you are, just work from that. If someone tells you you are 8% and another person tells you that you are 12% it really won't mean squat in the end.

Exhaling is flexing the abs.

Oh really? Oops.. well I can flex them more even if I'm exhaled, but interesting to know.

Jordanbcool

9% tops. He would not have so many veins if he were higher.

Anyways. Any estimate from anyone on this board will have some margin of error. Like Paul said, you got a good ball park. The bottom line is that you're pretty lean so you should be happy.
