Hello all,

With Bako_Lifter starting his league, I was reminded to start this year's version of my WBB (and friends) fantasy football league.

The rules:
We've changed slightly from last year based on feedback about the league settings. Fewer teams and smaller benches should result in a more balanced league. If there's enough demand (i.e. 12 teams ain't enough), I may include a second league.

We play with IDPs, & head to head scoring.

All previous players that finished seasons are welcome to return. We probably won't accept WBB members that haven't been around long enough for us to get to know them (mostly because we hate quitters!!!).

One or two folks that are very new -- don't give up hope yet. I would like to hold open the league for vets and returning players and essentially those that have proven themselves at least somewhat reliable. Keep an eye on this thread and assuming there's room, I'll getcha in a little later on. Again, if there's enough interest I may start a 2nd league.

She knows her football as almost as well as I do and has helped me run teams in the past. She'll definately see the season through if that's a concern. Between August and February every Sunday/Monday our home becomes this FF think tank. :ninja:

Tough break. If it's any consolation, I do believe Caddy will have a rebound year. Your team isn't really that bad. QB is Peyton... nuff said there. Your Wr are not bad and Willie Parker is a stud. Just work on the defense and you should contend. Is anyone available in a deal? I am looking for another top WR... My team is Packers FTW! in case you are interested.

Sorry you guys missed it. Rounds 10-20 were soooo painful with all the defensive players going... Half of them I had no idea who they were lol. Aside from them, the teams don't look THAT bad for those that were autodrafted. If anyone has an extra WR available please let me know. I want Addai also. Westbrook and McGahee are both available as are everyone else but Fitzgerald unless you can include another WR. Are you willing to do like McGahee and Vincent or Darrell Jackson for Addai and Plax or something?

Offering me Darrell Jackson and Willis McGahee for Joseph Addai and Plaxico Burress is borderline insulting.

If you're going to propose a trade, there should be SOME advantage to me in taking it. Asking me to downgrade two proven players on proven teams for two decent players in their first years on teams that were unspectacular last year is just silly. DJack and McGahee had worse years last year (from a fantasy perspective) than my two players, and both your players are with new teams, which is likely to lead to at least a slight reduction in their production at least for this year.

I'm not saying Addai and Burress aren't for trade. Everything's negotiable. But if you want two better players than you already have, you need to ADD something to the mix, mate.

Addai would be nice, but what I really need is another quality WR. I offered a deal for Addai but I'm positive you're gonna reject it. It would be much easier to me if you just tell if you are interested in any of my players and we can work from there, or even if you offer me a deal and then I will counter. I really hate proposing deals.

As long as you get semi-productive defensive players, it doesn't make a huge difference who exactly is on your team. Players in the NFL can be very inconsistent- see the studs this week- it's just a matter of having who gets a lot of tackles, and can produce a lot of big plays. At any time, any one player can put up HUGE numbers out of nowhere (Osi Umenyora) and then disappear for a few games. If your offense is good enough it doesn't matter as much.

Me, too. Why couldn't that last field goal have been 49 yards? I lost by 0.47 points. (It's my fault, though. I had Randle-El on the bench for some reason and he got 100 yards)

I'm 1-4 and could easily be 4-1.

Week 1: Win by a bunch
Week 2: Lose by 2.14 points. Ok, it happens.
Week 3: Lose by 1.84 points. C'mon, now!
Week 4: Lost by 9.44 points. It pretty much came down to Palmer vs Brady.
Week 5: Lose by 0.47 points. You gotta be crappin' me!

So, outside my one big loss, I've lost 3 games by a total of 4.15 points.

I've been playing for years as well and I have never quit. This year is probably my worst year because of my screwed up draft, and I started out 0-3, but I didn't quit. I worked with free agency as much as possible (it's practically impossible to get defensive guys or RBs in free agency) and I have manage to cobble together some wins.
The point is to be a competitor no matter what hand you are dealt. That is true in games as well as life.
I can understand picking and choosing your interests based on your strengths and aptitudes, but that's not the same thing as starting something and then quitting on it (and the people involved) just because you don't think you can win.

I've been playing for years as well and I have never quit. This year is probably my worst year because of my screwed up draft, and I started out 0-3, but I didn't quit. I worked with free agency as much as possible (it's practically impossible to get defensive guys or RBs in free agency) and I have manage to cobble together some wins.
The point is to be a competitor no matter what hand you are dealt. That is true in games as well as life.
I can understand picking and choosing your interests based on your strengths and aptitudes, but that's not the same thing as starting something and then quitting on it (and the people involved) just because you don't think you can win.

G-men will not be returning next year. Whiny/busy bitches that quit on the league don't get second chances. This is why I don't usually accept new WBB members to the league. I want people that have proven themselves to have some consistency.

I agree with you on the fact that RBs are hard to come by in free agency ( I *did* pickup LenDale White early on and I've been sitting on him) but I think you are completely misguided about the IDPs.

I had total crap IDPs from the draft (because I missed it) but I've since replaced all of my IDPs from free agency. It's an extreme case, but James Harrison was a FA pickup on Sunday morning. The IDPs are there, you just have to know how to pick 'em. I won't share all the details of my IDP FA pickup strategy but if you look at my pickups over the season, you can see that I've frequently managed to put decent FAs on my roster that contribute points to the total.

Well, I payed another less than full roster this week. This time, there were two guys on a bye and he had a defenseman in the lineup who hasn't played since week 2 and is on IR.

Sure, it's to my advantage, but I really don't want to win like that.

Quite honestly, I had a feeling I would lose until my stat-tracker updated with Urlacher returning an interception 90 yards for a touchdown. It was then that I thought I just might have a chance....
