I have heard that for optimal muscle growth that 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight is what you need. Ive just started a fitday account recently and I have noticed that I usually only consume around 130-140 grams of protein a day. And I weight about 160 pounds. Is this going to hamper my results? Should I look to increase my supplemnt intake? I usually have a protein shake after I workout.

Throw in another shake. 30 minutes before bed is usually a good option.

the minimum required protein is 1g/lbm not bodyweight.

When bulking I would say 1.5g/lbm is more than sufficient. After that protein becomes an expensive form of glucose.

LBM = bodyweight - bodyfat

You weigh 160, how lean/fat are you?

If you are 10% bf, you need a minimum of 144g protein.
If you are 20% bf, you need a minimum of 128g protein.

If you are somewhere in between, well...

What's the details behind getting 1.5g/lbm? Is it that much more beneficial than just getting 1/lbm?

Im pretty lean, I think I just need to have another shake and that should solve the problem.
