That should be plenty. As long as your urine is clear, you are good. (sometimes a multivitamin can color it)

Ok thanks. But if I start taking a multivitamin and my urine isnt clear I should be drinking more water or is that something you cannot avoid.

Sometimes multi-vitamins make your urine wierd colors and smell.

If you are dehydrated, your urine is orange'ish, when you have a lot of water in you, it is clear.

My vitamins do not do this to me, but some people have diff. effects.

I;m sure 1-1.5 gallons a day will be fine.

I always read that you should cut your bodyweight in half, and the remaining number is how many ounces of water you should drink.

example, I weigh 260, so I need 130 ounces a day

i go for 6-8 glasses through the day, a glass ranging from 10-14oz or so

so up around 80-100oz for me, and it keeps me peeing every hour

usually a baseline like MrWebb stated is about half your bodyweight in ounces, obviously this should only be used as a guideline and if you can get more it won't hurt, but that should be a minimum.

does drinking a ton of milk and juice count? i guess as long as the urine is clear once again...

Usually more than 256 ounces (2 gallons) for me. There are at least a couple of people here that hit 10 liters a day.

EDIT: Be wary of water intoxication.

Nah, I don't think you can count that as your water intake, even though the things you mentioned are mostly water. Water is water, it isn't milk, juice or coke. At least that's what I've been told.

Yeah, I have read that drinking too much water can kill you... what is up with that?:micro:

Yeah, I have read that drinking too much water can kill you... what is up with that?:micro:It won't kill you if it's spread out throughout the day. What you're thinking of is "water intoxication". And yes...water CAN kill you if you drink too much in a very short period of time. Say...a few gallons in like 15-30 minutes. That's just dumb. Spread out your water intake and you'll be fine.
