View Full Version : Thoughts on my diet, please

I have been so slack on my diet, not tracking, not measuring, just kind of eating, and it's completely destroyed my outlook on weight loss. I know the sig says not focused on losing weight, but I'm over the max for my height for the Marine Corps. I need to lose at least one pound.

This is the diet I came up with. Thoughts?

.5 c oats
1 T PB
.5 apple
dash cinnamon

3 oz tuna
.5 c cottage cheese
a few grapes thrown in

3 oz chicken breast
.5 c brown rice
1 c steamed fresh veggies

I have two single shakes with skim milk, vanilla whey, 1 c strawberries and a half a banana planned for mid morning and mid afternoon "snack". The afternoon snack gets 3 oz of tuna and a squirt of mustard also.

Then after dinner I have a scoop of whey in water.

Fitday comes out to:
Total Cals: 1591
Fat: 24g, 218 cal, 14%
Carbs: 141g, 505 cal, 33%
Protein: 204g, 816 cal, 53%

I'm not really worried about the timing of carb intake or anything like that.

Please keep in mind that I am a girl, and I do need the carbs for energy since I'm working up to three-mile-a-day runs.

Thank you!

****. Drop the carbs for a weighin and you'll probably shed 2-3 lbs of water off the bat.

Other than that the diet looks great. 3 mile a day run? Jeebus. *withers & Dies*

Cut out rice and apple and came up with 1450 cal, 24g fat, 112g carb, 199g protein.

I don't know about water weight. Don't you usually only retain when you aren't hydrated? I drink at least 80 oz a day. Easy. Maybe 100 on a slow day.

Yep. 3 miles. Goal is to do it in 18 minutes. I have a long way to go...

1 gram of carbohydrate holds 3 grams of water.

I'm not saying don't drink water ...drink a **** ton of it...it'll keep your kidneys working and you'll flush the excess.

Awesome. I'm headed off to the grocery store.

I think your fats look low. I would lower the protein a little.

I probably won't get all three protein shakes a day. If I really don't like it with water, then I'll just cut that out.

I didn't add it in, but depending on how I cook my chicken (EVOO), there should be more fats. It just won't be a daily thing, so I didn't put it.

Fats are low and overall calories look low for your weight and activity level. I'd also switch out some of the fruit and replace with veggies.

I'm throwing the fruit into the shakes. I'm so scared to start this diet. It's going to suck so bad. Also, I'm not running like I should. I really need to get on that, really really badly.

Why replace with veggies?

More fibre, less sugar/carbs/calories, more nutrient dense.

are you lifting? is this just to lose weight? how much do u weigh?

07-07-2007, 08:08 AM
I am still lifting, but my main focus is to build up my endurance and speed. I'm trying to run 3 miles in 18 minutes.

I'm 5'5", and weight just over 150 pounds. I need to get below 150, because that's where the max weight falls for my height.

Not enough fiber, not enough veggies, not enough fat, not enough calories.

And breakfast should have some protein in it.
