View Full Version : Hobbit Squats

Ah, the life of a professional hobbit.

Most of the old-timers on this board know me and those of you who don't, well, you'll find out soon enough. I'll spare you the introduction.

The tax man took a huge chunk out of Spamwise's checkbook earlier this year and things went to pot for a little while. No money = no food = hardly any gym. I'm only starting to get back on track but it'll be a while before things get back to where they used to be.

I also have 900 t-cells. 903 to be exact. That's the highest it's ever been. Things are looking up.

Today was the first day back in the gym in oh....3 to 4 months?

Wheelz and stuff

+W indicates weight increase Hah. Not for a while, young grasshopper.
+R indicates rep increase Ditto.
+! indicates PR

Medicine ball crunches: BWx15, BWx13, BWx10
Medicine ball split squats: 3 sets of 10 each -- because I have balance issues
Squats: barx8, 65x8x2, 65x7
Angled calf raises: 90x8x2, 110x8x2, 110x6
Plank: 2 sets @ 40 seconds

Don't expect stunning numbers. Do expect a rededication.

Oh yeah, and lots of food porn. It wouldn't be a proper journal without that.

Today's Fitday doesn't include macros for a shake I got from my gym. Something like 1100 calories and 75g protein I think. I'm having a bowl of cottage cheese right now and I gotta tell y'all, it's great.

That's the best news in the journal man. Food porn a close second obviously.

I had rabbit at The Spotted Pig this weekend. That was some serious food porn.

Actually, not done.

I have *not* been lifting for close to three years in part because I'm slowly paying back a $20,000 loan that was taken out to consolidate a substantial credit card debt.

That loan is almost paid in full, or will be by September.

At the moment, I'm weighing whether I want to pay for a full year's membership at NYSC or whether I want to go the cheaper route at Mid-City Gym. For the former, it's literally hundreds of locations throughout the NYC metropolitan area; and convenient, b/c I can hop by the branch that's located 3 blocks from my apt. If the latter, it will take some planning, although one nice thing is that it's located 2 blocks from the office.

Whichever route I take, I probably won't be able to hop back in the saddle until November. But I'm still around, and doing well for someone who hasn't been active. Weight was 160 this morning.
