View Full Version : how much should I eat ?

Hi,
This is my first time posting. I have been dieting for the last year and a half, I've lost 160lbs and have been trying to build as much muscle and lose as much fat as I can. It went great at first, but I am now having trouble putting on any more muscle. I am wondering if I am not eating enough calories now ( maybe I have been stuck in dieting mode to long)? I weigh 195 I am 6'5" and I eat around 2000 to 2500 calories and under 40 grams of fat per day. Is that not enough ? Thanks for any help.

No, its not enough. I cut on 3k day.

Increase your calories if your not gaining.
My maintenance cals is around 2800-3100 and im only 180lbs.

Mine is 3600 but I'm 230lbs.

Thanks, I was afraid I wasn't eating enough, but wasn't sure. I also wondered if I should start taking any supplements for calories instead of food. Right now I am only taking whey protein before and after working out, should I add anything else ?

I would up the fats CONSIDERABLY, like double-time.

If you know your bf%, then go with 0.5g/lbm, if you dont go with 0.45g/bw.

I weight 195lb and 2000 calories isn't enough. I eat between 3000-3600 everyday. You could add yogurt or tuna to each meal. 170x4.......680 extra calories or both like I do. 1360 extra calories.

160lbs in a year and a half is a hell of an accomplishment!

Add some lean high protein foods, and some good fat sources to your diet and you should start gaining.

Thanks it seemed to take forever while I was doing it, but now that I look back it went pretty fast.

I go to the gym 4 to 5 days a week and I just pair up two body parts each time. I generally do Chest/Biceps, Legs/Back, Shoulders/Triceps and then Chest and Legs again. I normally do 3 sets of 3 different exercises per muscle group. Does this sound like the right way to go at it to you?

I honestly dont like the split you have going but other people might say diffrently. If i go with a split like that I would do
3 day split Mix it up
Chest/Tris
Back/Bi's
Legs/Shoulders
or
Chest/Shoulders
Legs
rest
Bi's/Tri's
rest
Back
