I have toast every morning and am curious of whether it is healthier to use butter or margarine.

Butter, hell just by going only on taste butter wins.
a whole block? yuck!
look for the sprayable butter, save on the calories!

butter is okay (don't forget though it is all saturated fat, natural, but still)...it's a better choice than margarine because it doesn't contain lots of chemicals (which are used to transform vegetable oils into margarine)
Of the two I would choose butter
I like to take a stick of butter, let it get soft and then mix it in a little tub with 1/2 cup of olive oil and put it back in the fridge. That way I still get a (sort of) buttery taste, but I get the good mono-saturated fats from the olive oil. Kinda balances it all out. Also makes it easier to use since the olive oil (while it firms up in the fridge) is still relatively soft at fridge temp. :)

Yeah, butter is better for you tham most other spreads. Try the smart balance spreads.
I always sub. in EVOO in place of all of my spreads. EVOO is probably one of the best spreads, salad dressings, etc. that there is.
