I have been running three days a week and am getting real bad shin splits that make me stop. What stretches does everyone do before running?

Absolutely not true. If you really have shin splints, they'll only get worse if you continue to run on them. If you dont want to take a week or so off then try running on grass. That should help some.

Rest really is the best method to getting rid of them

you could also try icing your shins after you run

while you're "resting" you could try non-weight bearing cardio such as swimming or cycling

also, not sure if you're doing any HIIT or not, but check out Built's article..this would probably work before regular running too:

icing helps.
running on something that absorbs more shock such as the rubbery material tracks are made out of and grass.
the way you run. do you run on the balls of your feel or flat footed?
are you wearing shoes that have good support?
