My flat bench press has been increasing a lot lately (ever since I decided to bench twice a week, light/heavy days) so I thought I would post a video of me bench pressing hehe :)

My previous PR 1.5 months ago was 205x5 but now it is 225x5 so I'm very happy with my progress.

The weights total may look like it is 230 but the bar weighs only 30 lbs so it is actually 215. It was my last set so I was tired but I managed to get the 5th rep :D

PS. don't pay attention to the people in the background, they're weird

good pressing man. Most people would of racked after that third rep and congrats on the 225 x 5 PR.

Good job man. Those guys didn't look too concerned about you struggling with that last rep haha. I dont think i'd want them spotting me

Thank you :D

I go different place to train now and I just can't get used to their equipements so I was feeling very akward as I was benching, but adapting to a new place feels like it helped me to break my plateau.

The guy who helped me with the start is my best friend actually haha
He just disappeared while I was benching, I don't know why

Haha, I was thinkin the same thing. Rather play with his balls than get ready to help you incase that last rep failed.

good benching! You could put up a lot more if you used more leg drive, though.

Before you go for more weight, get better spotters.

Thank you for the tip, I'll work on that.

My lifting partner went to connecticut that day so I had someone else to spot me, I asked him why he left all of a sudden and he said he wanted to check my camera, I was speechless after that lol

great job

few questions as I'm actively trying to get my bench up from 205x5 to 225x5 as you did (I can do 225x2 currently...my best is 225x4):

1) what routine are you using right now
2) how many cals are you eating a day? would you say it's maintenance or are you cutting or bulking?

Just curious..

KingWilder-

About 2 months ago I decided to take out any unnecassary stuff and completely focus on bench press/squat/deadlift. I felt like I was overtraining my shoulders so I stopped doing any shoulder work completely. I lowered my volumes and rep range to 3-5 and it has been working really well for me so far. I bench two times a week and although I said I do light one day and heavy another, I've been benching heavy twice a week with good results.

My routine is something like this (sometimes I also throw in some oly lifts for fun)
Monday-
Flat Bench 5x3-5
Close Grip 3x5

Tuesday-
Squats 5x3-5
Front Squat 3x3-5
Some ab work

Wed-
Off

Thurs-
Same as monday

Friday-
Deadlift 5x3-5
Weighted Pull ups 5x3-5
BB Row 3x5
Lat Pulldown 3x5
Light ab work

Sat/Sun-
Off

I go heaviest on my 3rd set and use something I can do for 3 reps. Keeping 1st and 2nd set the same, I just make sure I can rep it 4 times (3rd set) by next week and surprisingly I was able to add an extra rep every week. (I also try to improve my form, too)

As for my calorie intake, I'm not really trying to gain weight right now so I could say I'm on a maintenance right now.

I'll start writing an online journal, too if that helps.

I thought the same thing. I was surprised by every rep you got after #2. Nice job.
