Contrast Training for Size
Contrast training is a unique way to optimize results. Read this article by Lee Boyce about how to incorporate it into your training to pack on lean muscle mass.
Powerlifting, Strongman, and Olympic weightlifting. For the competitive lifter.
Other boards I frequent keep track of members PR's. Why can't the fine men and women here at /WBB/ have the same? I'll start Parallel Box Squat - 750+10 chains x 2
It occurred to me today that we have never offered a unique discount just for WBB members. That is kind of goofy considering AtLarge owns and wholly funds this site not to mention the fact it is the sole advertiser here. So, for those of you who have been loyal to us for years, thank you! For...
For many years powerlifters have asked "How can our sport get more mainstream TV coverage?" Well this week on America's Got Talent, the #1 rated Television show in America during the summer months, the dream of more coverage than EVER before becomes a reality as the Omega Force Strength Team is...

Here's my top two sets from today. This was after a 17 hour fast. Body weight was 200 lbs. dv1zhqR2Td4 qT61IaQ6lhA
Who do you think makes the best gear and why. I dont want this to become a flame war but I wanna know why you guys like the gear you like.
I have taken as many as three weeks light prior to a meet and have gone up to 90% the week before. Each time it seems a bit different. I don't like just doing something because it's on paper. How do you all know what to do the weeks coming into a meet?
Haven't posted here in a while, wasn't really sure which section to put this in, because I don't know ANY other lifters who do SINGLE-LEG RDLs (NOT stiff-legged, as the acronym most likely implied). This is one of my favorite lifts and I feel like it is a very underrated one as well. It has...
I have built up my strength over the last 5+ years doing basic powerlifting. I got my deadlift over 500lbs and my squad over 400.. However, I'm tired of having a medium sized gut. Also earlier today I did a bodyweight circuit that KICKED MY ASS. Who would have know just jumping around for 15...
Hit a 15lb pr today, how does it look, my buddy says I have 500+ in me, IDK http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=SpwQEBS5z9s
I've read on this site that many beginners should embark on Starting Strength first before pursuing anything else but others also hold that Westside is perfectly suitable for beginners as well. My questions are these: - Should an RE day take the place of DE day as speed work with small maxes to...
Jeremy is the all time wr holder with a 661 raw bench in the 242 class. That's crazy. Listen in tonight on www.ftns.co at 8:00 pm est. If you have any questions for Jeremy post them up here and I'll try to get to them.
Tomorrow night at 6pm VPH is having a round table discussion with some elite lifters. http://vegaspowerhour.com/The_Round_Table.html
Who here competes in both disciplines? How do you alter your training (if at all) for either? I love competing in both equipped and raw, however I really don't change my training at all aside from taking more straight weight raw (as opposed to equipped) as I get closer to a meet.
Here are a few pics of my new garage gym: Power rack from a couple different angles... Fat bar standing in the corner... Pegboard and shelves...
Seems the recent trend in powerlifting has been comparison or sometimes even attacking training methods. As if we are at war between each approach or something. What I find most interesting (from my perspective as a long time member at Westside Barbell) is that certain groups are flat out...
Pretty simple question to all the multiply squatters out there. Last year training at 220 and multiply our squat training basically consisted of a DE day on fridays rotating bands and chains for 3 week waves. The 3rd week we would go "strength speed" and throw the suit bottoms on. This was...
So getting back into the gym seriously now Im curious what everyone thinks about my routine. Little about me I love Powerlifting and Strongman training and I have competed in the past before. My best past lifts were 375lb Bench, 505lb Deadlift and 565lb Squat. I lost alot of strength my last...
I feel good about this lift. Looking forward to what I can do with two weeks of light work and recovery. It's been a brutal cycle. The volume has been nuts.
just want to share with everyone what im doing with my DE work. first off all, my sticking points in the bench press is midway, and my deadlifts are always sticky off the floor (sumo). so im using only straight weight for now. second, when using a set percentage, it always takes me until...
Dan's the raw wr holder at 220 and 242. There's not much else that needs to be said. Tune in to www.ftns.co at 8:00 pm est
Question: Can anyone see any limitations / contraindications for training deads with BBB (5 sets X 10 reps after 5/3/1)? Thoughts: I think I understand the general purpose/s behind BBB but wonder sometimes about its applicability to certain lifts like the deadlift, where lower volume/rep...
Haven't posted any bench videos in a long time so I figured I'd throw this up. Been nursing a strained pec this past month so this was the first time pressing over 400 in a couple weeks. 055X_ZjoHtQ
I want to see what people think the best raw benchers are right now...
Feeling really good about my work.
now there are different training templates , frequency based and fatique based ones. any examples here ? really different views in training imo ... squating 3 x a week bencheing 4 times.. its not easy (for me) to get all that stuff in my head to get agood starting template . any thoughts ?
I'm just curious how you guys setup the last few weeks of training for your squat going into the meet. I competed for a bunch of years in Multiply. This is basically what I did then: 3 weeks out: Full gear Heavy Squat W/bands \ 2 weeks out: Full Gear Opener only 1 week out: Briefs only up to...

Great article written by Dan Green: http://www.jtsstrength.com/articles/2013/05/29/west-of-westside/
To give some background information: I'm just shy of a month out from a meet.. Monday was my heavy bench day. I tore thestplate on my SDP and just got it back, so more than anything I wanted to check out the shirt, make sure it was right, because I just don't have time to get a new shirt and...
Im in my second mini cycle for USAPL raw nats in July and things are going well. Im loving the new PREWORKOUT supplement and I started adding my results in during my workout and things are going well with that method. 555 for 5 raw squat 600 for 5 raw sumo deadlift 8 weeks out.
I felt like crap and didn't even want to train today, but I did. I decided to pull because no one else was at the gym when I showed up. Anyway, I pulled without briefs or a suit (I did use a belt and straps). I ended up pulling 635 x 6 which I am 99% sure is a PR for me.
Thoughts? Are boards only good for guys who bench in shirts? Or is there some correlation to increasing your raw strength?
As happens occasionally after a meet where a few lifters set large PR's, those lifts will come under intense scrutiny. When these lifts don't match up to what people feel they should see on video or what they have in mind, of recent past those people accuse lifters of ruining the integrity of...
Just cruising some other forums and am so frustrated about the idiocy I see. Really, people are complaining about Dan Green taking the slack out of the bar before he pulls. Also, I'm sick of the pause calls for raw benching. It's not a pause, it's motionless. I have completed in powerlifting now in...
This summer, a few friends and I are organizing a strength meet, and we need your help to make it THE competition of the year. It's a two day event called the Mash Elite Strength Extravaganza. Competitors will compete in olympic lifting, powerlifting, and strongman over two days August 10th and...
When do you do them, back day, shoulder day, other? Curious to hear some thoughts.
I don't know why it is but I HATE training biceps. I just dont care. What is your approach to training biceps, if at all? I see the merit in training them to avoid injury in deadlifting or even benching, but how far do you take it? Specific isolation movements or just lots of rowing...
In this video I talk about increased tendon rigidity from strength training and its implications relative to mobility work etc. 7R6ie9jaIhQ&feature
How often does everyone here do ab work? Every day? Just on lower days? Do you think abs need an effciant amount of recovery time just as any other muscle does, like hit them hard once or twice a week then rest them?
