I got the convict pro knee wraps, they basically make me hate my life when they are on so I know Im using them right. But I dont seem to be getting as much weight out of them as others are.
How do you get the most out of your knee wraps? Squating in them frequently? Certain way of wraping them? Certain way of squating with them on?
They are my first real pair of knee wraps so I dont know how to use them for max weight.
Put them on tighter. Get someone who knows how to wrap knees show you how to do it properly. I personally like to criss-cross my wraps.
theres few variations on wrapping knees. its lifter preference
probably not the best choice for your first wrap. however, WRAP EM TIGHTER.
I'll second that, LOL. Personally I like other wraps a little better than the convicts. I recently got the 2.5 m APT Black Reapers and love them!

my first meet i was used to not wrapping my knees, and on my last squat attempt i had a guy that used to train at westside wrap my knees with short inzer wraps. i couldn't hit depth, kept trying to get lower and lower, and eventually just lost my air on an attempt that should have been easy. i'm thinking about trying either the ZRV's or black mambas next, and getting a bit of training in them before my next meet.

Convicts are hands down, and I do mean, hands down, the heaviest wrap Ive used...on both knee wraps and wrist wraps...Im addicted to the convict wrist wraps.

titanium wraps are a good start, then go to thp.
I have a pair of these: http://www.rawpowerfitness.com/item70.htm. I know they dont compare to APT wraps but they get the job done for now. I have the non velcro ones btw. The velcro ones were ****, so I turned an old pair into wrist wraps.
I just started using the black mambas and they blow the metal all blacks out of the water. I find you get more support without your feet going nearly as numb.
Ok, Im getting more like 50-70lbs out of my knee wraps now, just wraping them tighter and probably getting better used to them.
Im loving those convicts, I can squat anything I put on the bar basically.
THIS IS THE MOST USEFUL POST I'VE EVER READ IN REGARDS TO USING KNEE WRAPS..AND IT'S DONE WONDERS FOR MY SQUATTING!
Never stretch the knee wraps out to the MAX when wrapping, even on your single rep maximum effort. always leave some room for the wraps to stretch as you squat, this will allow them to recoil and help blast you up out of the whole.
Let's say this is 1ft of unstretched knee wrap
If i stretched it out to the max it would look like this
I always wrap when i get to 585lbs
675lbs would be tighter
700lbs and up would be between this
The heavier the weight, the tighter the wrap, but never a full max'd out stretch on the knee wraps. They act like a rubber band to help pop you up, if their stretched to the max they will not recoil, they will only cut into you and hurt like hell with no real benefit.
just my .02, it works for me.
Also, in my humble opion, knee wraps should only be used when doing HEAVY triples or less
