Training 8 times a week?
Is it true that you get better results if you split up big training sessions into two smaller training sessions at different parts of the day?
For example instead of training M-T-Th-F, train M am/pm,T am/pm, Th am/pm-, Fri am/pm.
This of course would take into account that I never train to failure and always try to keep the CNS fresh for continual gains.
BTW, my goals are althetic, meaning strength/weight ratio, power, and a lean body.
I was thinking of speed/power training in the am, and strength training in the pm.
I have been doing this for the past week, and already feel like I am starting to look leaner, although have stayed the same weight. Just wondering what others opinions/experience is.
if you can train twice a day 4 days a week your intensity is way off.
That's the thing. Intensity is low, but it is low regardless this time of year. I wouldn't be lifting necessarily twice a day. I would be taking my normal workout (which is 4 times a week) and splitting those 4 workouts into 8 smaller workouts, same volume, same intensity, just higher frequency.
I talked to a great track coach and cscs certified trainer. He said that the only problem is that I'm only giving myself 12 hours of rest if I do it that way. For instance the heavy lifting at night could affect the light lifting the next morning.
He suggested doing the power and strength work together in the morning. Then, if I get bored in the afternoon, do balance/coordination/stability work (which you can't do too much of) or metabolic exercises a couple times a week (like football conditioning).
