Hope the ankle is okay, **** like that really sucks.
I'm picturing it in my head and i wish you got it on film, sorry for laughing a bit at your misfortune! thats just way to random. :D
It took me a minute to realize what the hell happened. I just felt something nail me in the ankle. I kept walking another step or two then turned around. By that point someone realized more weights were about to go flying and started yelling at Mark to stop. It wasn't until I looked back and saw the 45 on the ground that I realized what happened. It feels a lot better today. I'm icing it regularly and keeping it elevated.
Sorry to hear about your ankle, I hope everything is alright.
Thanks Brian. I'll see when I deadlift on Tuesday.
Last time i ****ed my ankle up pulling(conv) wasnt bad....but squating was a no go
3" deficit deads
405 x 1 add belt
495 x 1
545 x 1
585 x 1
605 x 1 20 lb PR
Old PR was from a couple of weeks before I hit 710 at a meet.
Box squat with buffalo bar (~1" high off foam)
145 x 5
235 x 5
325 x 5
415 x 5
465 x 5
505 x 5 foam definitely compressed more
These felt great.
Band leg curl
green 4 x 10
Ice ankle which looks pretty gross but could have been much worse.
I thought about going 625, but I need to consistently make attempts these last 3 weeks.
that dead looked really solid i think you would have gotten but makes sense not to take it this close. I love really long de-loads to meets, infact I don't think ive heard of anybody deloading as much as me before a meet haha.
Overall, I try to not miss weights. I find it takes more out of me than anything else and screws up my recovery. That's even more important once I'm close to a meet.
Some great lifting here, love the videos!
Thanks! I'm glad that you like the videos.
495 x 1 2-bd
515 x 1 1-bd
525 x 1 touch
545 x 1 2-bd for the rest
565 x 1
Everything felt crappy but I got in the work I needed.
MM + micro 4 x 8
5 plates 3 x 8
MM doubled 3 x 8
How far out are you now? You are going to kick ass, I think you have gained a hell of a lot of strength since your last meet. What are your goals?
Thanks. I'm definitely less injured. I was WAY over trained going into the last one. It's February 6th, so I have 1 training session left this week, then 2 full weeks of training. My goal is to actually make more than 1 squat attempt at a multi-ply meet. I think fixing my setup will help that. My PRs are 733, 529, and 710. My planned attempts are:
744, 777, 804
523, 551, 573
644, 690, 727
I usually tweak the thirds based on how I feel. That might place me in the top 5 with how competitive 242 will be at this meet. That's the main reason I'm flying to Kansas to lift. I need to get out there against great competition. It'll force me to get better.
Thats a really competitive 242 division if 2100 only puts you in the top 5, thats the kind of meet I want to goto haha.

Triceps are definitely what limit me on these. I can do 295 x 5 with straight weight.
mini doubled 4 x 25
DE bench training:
We had the chains more off the ground than normal for a change of pace. It definitely made you stay tight.
This week's Q&A:
where did you get your chains? Everywhere I go wants a stupid amount of money and I am not sure where to find used ones.
Most of ours are 3/8" because that's as big as home depot sells. I got some from a guy that used to train with us. He had a bucket of chain, and I cut them to length. We definitely need more. We're trying to find used chains.
