Did this just over a week ago, got it checked out by the doctor. He just said ice, elevate and rest it basically and it should get better in a couple weeks. I was just wondering if anyone else had done this and what their experiences were with this injury: recovery time, things that sped up healing, how it felt when you get back to lifting with that muscle, etc..

You should incorporate some regular stretching and possibly calf massage/ultrasound. If you know a physical therapist, they should be able to help you out.
