Kiff my best is toes close to plates in gear but raw it's closer.
My raw conventional from blocks is about the same as my raw sumo from blocks.
All types of pulls seem to build my comp lift so I guess I'm lucky.
Side note I have tested times were I don't use bands and times I do and every time I get better gains from using bands.

Think I should try sumo as another ME lower exercise. How close is your conventional max to sumo max?
speed was excellent on the first 75% of the pull...my favorite part is in the beginning watching you try to grab the bar :clown:
HJP, I find sumo pulls less taxing than conventional so perhaps on your speed day you could pull for speed sumo after your speed squats (maybe 3 weeks sumo, 1 week conv)..........that way you still get heavy conventionals in when you max on pulls because you need to practice movements close to your comp lift.
Sumo speed pulls should be done slightly heavier than conventional.......perhaps 75% for 5-8 singles or 70% for 5 doubles.
My raw sumo and raw conv are very close........gear helps my sumo.

Kiff, yeah I have...........when I drop SLDLs (conv or close sumo stance) my progress slows......also back raises.....pulls against bands fairly often.......ab work.
All the different max effort work seems to work but deficits helped less than I would have thought.....still good but not 100% needed.
Yeah bands kick ass you just need to rotate then in and out but I think they can be done more than people say..........give you an example: When I started trying to buld my pull I did tons of block pulls against bands and many people thought it was just ego lifting that would not help my comp lift.........I have now added 140lb to my comp lift :)
Thanks Gargage Lifter, Yep it is very hard to get hands wrapped around bar........makes you forget if your lifting a warm-up or a max which is pretty cool.

"Tip of the day"- learn to use your belt and love your belt......big air in the gut not chest and push out...........I get huge lbs out of a belt.
