Who goes behind the neck for barbell military press?? If so, how far down do you go?
I have heard numerous reasons not to. I personally used to, but every now and then they would hurt my shoulders (not the good hurt) so i quit and do front military press.
is there any advantage to going behind the neck?? I want to get the most out of my shoulder workout.
And what are a couple good exercises to isolate the rear delt's? if any. I do rear DB raises sometimes, but feel that mine are lagging behind. That may just be psychological.
There is no advantage to doing them behind the neck. In fact, if you are trying to develop your front delts, it's actually a DISadvantage. Always go with front presses.
I have made great rear delt improvements since I started doing them on back day instead of shoulder day. I prefer to do rear delts on the fly machine, but occasionally use reverse dumbell flys.
Thanx Gino! exactly the answer i was looking for.
Any other opinions?
Gino, what do you think of the one-armed dumbbell rows? I've tried a variation- keep the thumb towards the body, elbow goes perpendicular to body on the up. Really give my rear deltoids a burn.
I do them in my back routine Belial.
Belial - If it feels good, it should be working. And if it's working, you should be seeing results. If you are, stay with it.
