Here's another one of these:
Please help KoSh find the apporpriate item thread that you are all so good at.
So this time it's elbow sleeves.
My left elbow is in bad shape. I haven't been able to do tricep work worth a crap and my becnh, although going okay, hurts like hell.
I'd like to get an elbow sleeve to wear over it for tricep/bench work. Rehbands are expensive, but look to be a great option.
What would you all recommend?
I have rehband elbow sleeves. Not a huge fan of them, they keep my elbows nice and warm but offer no support for the joint I find. and they start digging into my bicep and start hurting if worn for too long.
*edit* Oh I guess I should add my suggestion as well. I've heard good things about the APT sleeves. Plus I've seen alot more lifters use them than rehbands.
i wear crappy mcdavid ones from sports authority, they fit really well and have good warmth. But wont provide any carryover. (p.s. i am wearing size small knee sleeves on my arms, because they had better coverage) They have really helped my bicep tendonitis for benching and squatting
I have the same ones. They are great for keeping the area warm but really don't provide great support.

The new rehband sleeves (black/grey) are garbage; though the old blue 7mm rehbands are the best sleeves on the market (except they cost $75-80/pair).

- Sports Authority Sleeves (3mm I believe, $15/each?)
- Tommy Kono Sleeves (5mm, $40/pair)
- Vulkan Sleeves (5mm, similar to old rehband and better than new rehband for half the price $40/pair)
- Nike Sleeves from Sports Authority (3mm, $20/pair)
For more support I would go with a cloth sleeve, and in that case APT is the way to go. The convict sleeves will even give you a little carryover on your pressing and will definitely stabilize the joint. Single ply will run you just under $30 and double ply around $35 (with discount code).
Do any of your training partners have sleeves? It is always nice to 'try before you buy'.
My overall recommendation would be Vulkans if you want to go neoprene and Convicts if you want to go cloth.
Can you take a measurement of your arms? I've got a pair of doubke ply convicts you can have if you think they might fit. I won them at a strongman show...they are xxl but I can't even get them on my arms (I'm 190)
I have the Nike neoprene elbow sleeves and they've worked well for me. I use them to simply keep the joint warm, so they wouldn't be the best choice if you want support.
I don't train with anyone in specific. I can't find anyone that's into powerlifting. I got one guy that's going to start training with me on occasion once my home gym is set up.
11 inches around at the elbow joint.
13.5 unflexed at the bicep, a little over 14 flexxed.
I'm about 11.5 at elbow, 14.5 unflexed bicep and 16 flexed...I bet they would fit. Ill send them to you if you want, none of my friends around here can fit in them. Keep in mind they are double ply, very thick sleeves
