It really comes down to how smart you are Common. Take the information offered here or at the gym, evaluate it based on your knowledge, do more research yourself, apply it, and if it works for you then use it.
There are some very knowlegeable guys on this site and I know this because they back a lot of their adivce up with clinical research. I've also verified advice by my own research. You hang here long enough and you'll know the guys that know their stuff. It's up to you to qualifiy it.
Another thing to think about: Who do you think does the most research on training and nutrition? Someone who is genitically gifted or on juice? Or the guy who has neither advantage therefore has to learn and train as smart as possible to maximize gains?
Not saying the big, ripped guys don't know their stuff, just don't discount the knowledge of the guys who aspire to be that..
