yes.
take db curls out and put in hammer curls for a while.
i always do barb curls first and anything i do after that for bis will suck **** anyway....
maybe i should put in hammers and do those BEFORE the barbs for a while?
yes!!! i was gonna tell u to do that but didnt know if u would like it....u should gain so more size/strength from it cause u have been so use to db and bb curls that hammer curls hits muscles u havent hit before....
In my personal opinion BB curls are not very effective for size, although they worked for strength. The best exercise for size for the biceps is the Preacher Curl hands down.
The best exercises you could do would be:
Preacher Curls
Hammer Curls
Barbell Curls
Don't get me wrong, BB curls will add size, but not as fast as the Preacher will.
And you know this how, exactly?
yes man. thats quite a statement there bro. better back it up.
so paul stagg what do you think?
*** Note, he said "in his personal opinion". I would asssume he is posting from personal experience.Quote:

The problem with preacher curls is that they provide little to no resistance for the top half of the movement. Now, preacher curls on a machine, that's a different story.
I ignored the part about personal experience, strength, and size, as Jim is not yet old enough to drive, so his experience isn't going to mean much to me.
I focused in on:
"The best exercise for size for the biceps is the Preacher Curl hands down."
I want Jim to explain how this is the case.
If he didn't word it right, and meant to say "I think, based on my experience, that the best exercise for the biceps is the preacher curl" we can discuss it in terms of his experience.
In internetland, there is a HUGE difference between the two.
i liek hamur curlz.
seriously....i've noticed that they kinda filled out my bicep, if that makes any sense?
Exactly, I said in my personal opinion meaning what has worked for me. I also heard Arnold and I can't remember who the 1st Mr. Olympia was, but they said that preacher curls did wonders for them compared to BB curls, of course they used steriods but it still got them more growth. I've heard from numerous people also that BB curls helped them more in strength then for size, again this is for them. You should experiment with them all and see what adds the best size for you.
And with the preacher curls being the most effective for size hands down was after I said In my experiences so I assumed that everyone would get that, sorry I must not have worded it correctly, sorry for the mix up.
I do know that the 3 best bicep ex. that -I- know of are preacher curls, hammer curls and barbell curls.
Tryska, yes that seems the case for me also, they seem to make them look "thicker and more full" ? Correct?
well for me, it actually made them a bit "longer". i guess cuz it targets lower down on the bicep that they filled out some. prior to doing hammer curls consistently i was doing just regular db curls, and concentrations...
when i switched up to hammers and preachers, the change i notice was that they got a bit longer, and harder. (and what girl doesn't like that, huh? *lol*)
Hmmmmm, Triscut needs a good soap in the mouth washing.
Hammer Curls and Barbell Curls work great for moi.
maki...please stop calling me that...i don't like it. it's not like i call you maxi pad or something....please give me the same respect.
Must be the localized release of HGH and cytokines * heh heh *Quote:

I am going to experiment with only doing curl-grip chins and hammers for my biceps. I will prolly do one exercise one week and the other the next. I'm eating at basically maintenance cals now, so I'll let you know if I at least maintain size. I think most people do way too much bicep work. I used to and got nowhere.
lol@delphi
no, i can tell, which i why i didn't get out and out angry, but it was started to irritate me. (which granted isn't too difficult when i'm not feeling my best), but anyways...yeah thanks man, i appreciate the apology. :)Quote:

Thanks for the clarification, Jim.
For the most part, a curl is a curl.
I personally hate preacher curls. In the top third of the movement, resistance is almost zero.
On the other hand, I love incline curls.
What has worked best?
Chins.
I gained more size on my arms doing chins and almost no direct arm work.
Of course, I also got much bigger during that time period.
As long as you are progressing, keep at what you like.
Hey am I hallucinating or did chris say a machine exercise is better than a freeweight???
EVERYONE TAKE NOTE!
I think there are some ace machines.
